Ed is a portal
Ed is a portal
And damned if we don't try

To sort of relinquish the reigns our
Brains their mass has gravity
Pulls us into and away from
Portals such as Fractal Ed's
Mysterioso displacement
Proportioned anti subtle bubble
Gun unarmed the torsos run but they
Cannot grasp, they're brainless foot fast

Past and present
Large and lovely
Static quagmire
Lonely loco
Taco truck of
Mind space plosives

Pliable and potable
Refillable reusable

Ed is a portal
Ed is a portal
And damned if we don't try

Now don't start that shit
That pit-er-pat bit bout
Shamanistic shaker spells and
Alpha beta grammar slides
Water belly floppy drivin
Stoneless skippin' Brother John the
Headless one bathes Baby J the
Chosen one a portal dripped down
From the sun, portals dripping

Liquidating
Hydrogen
Ballooning relief
(The) mountains are steep and

Our feet are wet
But then not yet

Our bellies changin' like
Leaves arranged and
Sent to loved ones
Once marked they've begun
To delineate and define space
Gracious gracefully we face up
To leaking sons and
Laser beam guns but

(Primordial mantelope)

Primordial man, the antelope hunter
Made his weapons out of sticks
Thinking drinking from the sun
Her moonbeams birth mercurial babies
Antelopes run free and the sea it returns me

To all of the places that I have known

Now that my body's grown the lonely heart poetry
Droning in hearts becomes songs that all objects
Sing to each other like friends telling stories

It's all the same story
And Ed is a portal

The immorals gently awaken
All possibilities open
Unto one another
And brothers and sisters begin
To see truly through strata

This song is great, even better live. As for a specific meaning... fuck if I know. Its about Ed, and he is a portal.

I think "ed" is short for education. Just think about if it this song was about education.

best song in 2007. oh...by the way...I don't have any idea of what the lyrics mean and I'm not sure they have a meaning in the first place.

    great, addicting song, though.

The last verse should say 'immortals' not 'immorals'. i think thats an important thing to know if you want to get the full effect of the song

Maybe I'm being a bit romantic with the meaning but here's my take: Ed's a drug dealer. It makes a lot of sense when you listen to it from that pov. People cut on that idea all the time. But I think the band members get high probably a lot for creative purposes. Not just to light up to kill time. You have to respect that. I'm curious to see if anyone agrees with that.

    Song Meaning

It's a dream of a collective unconscious springing forth into consciousness that I think humanity strives towards.

A realization of man's past as antelope hunter, present as scientifically enlightened being with laser guns, and potential future in the stars that can only be achieved if we begin to see one another not as Jews or Arabs or Americans or Syrians or Africans but as human beings that once used to be able to simply dance around a bonfire.

In other words, throw off the chains of the abstractions that separate us, and begin to live in the world of possibilities that exists if such a world becomes true. Humankind living as brothers and sisters, seeing through strata.

    Damned if we don't try!

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

No Surprises

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
