Watch your makeup
there is just a smudge beneath the eye
You look great in that dress
it hits every curve just right
We're got dinner at eight, and then drinks by nine
I love you so, it's out anniversary tonight

Suddenly everything shakes as if it's starting to break
And now I'm on my knees
my wife screams, "What's Wrong!?"
As the stereo plays our song
Only In Dreams.

Just last Friday is when my heart failed again
I was thinking that I should find a friend
I bought her several drinks
and slipped the ring into my hand
We drove to her place
and let the good times roll again

Suddenly everything shakes as my protection breaks
And now I'm on my knees
and I scream, "This was wrong!"
As I leave, the stereo plays the song
The Finishing

Is this it? Is this how I have spent my life?
Lying there with a broken heart on bedroom floors
And finally, finally, I realize
I realize that I'm only a man
I'm only a man
I'm only a man
I'm only a man

(One thing I have to know, where did the miracles go?
And if a simple man believes, will it start again with me?)
(If I were the maker I would fashion out a blade
To cut out every inch of dead heart I've mad)

I'm watching this screen
These lies played out before my eyes
And how they know everything
Everything comes easy
Well I never had it easy
I was never lucky
It was never easy
And you sit there
And you judge my commitment

(One thing I have to know, where did the miracles go?
And if a simple man believes, will it start again with me?)
(If I were the maker I would fashion out a blade
To cut out every inch of dead heart I've made)

You people could say that I?m the bad guy
Because I was weak
I was weak once or twice
Well let me tell you
I'm standing in the lead
I am standing in the lead
Because I can't control this person behind my hands

I’m watching this screen, These lies laid out before my eyes And how they know everything… Everything comes easy, Well I never had it easy, I was never lucky It was never easy And you sit there, and you judge me You people can say that I’m the bad guy Because I was weak, I was weak once or twice Well let me tell you I’m standing in this heat I’m standing in the name Because I take control of this person behind my hands

I think thats like 99% right for the remaining end screaming, theres a few things im not positive about but its a start.

A song about adultry and the regret that goes with it. Plain and simple. Emery's newest album is very powerful!

    The second chorus should say:

"Suddenly everything shakes, as my protection brakes."

This is an awesome song. But one of my favorite part has to be towards the end where he's not really singing anymore, he's just sort of yelling and it's really powerful... I'm just trying to find out what he's saying, I can't the lyrics to that part of the song anywhere...

Instead of "Because I take control of this person behind my hands." I believe it really is "Because I CAN'T control this person behind my hands."

Amazing song, nonetheless. :] I love the whole theme to Emery's new album.

My favorite part is the screaming too...and i HATE screamo. it's my favorite song because of just that emotion...when he says "well i NEVER had it easy...i was NEVER lucky....fucking wow.

does he say "you sit there, and you judge my COMMITMENT?" for sure?

I really want to know what he says. For some reason it kinda sounds like CHARISMA...but that wouldn't make much sense.

I also think he says "well let me tell you "i'm standing in the NEED"...and he says it twice. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but it sounds more like that than "heat" or "name"

i agree with twocementshoes. i'm pretty sure that he's saying "i am standing in the need..." &it's my favorite part of the song. don't quote me, but i'm fairly certain that "standing in the need" is a southern baptist expression meaning you need God desperately at that moment. it's like a cry for help. i think that's what i used to hear when i was little.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
