Yellow lines underneath my feet
on the long drive to your hometown.
Two guitars, a drum set
in the back seat of my car.
The night has settled down.
It was a rock show.

Lying there on the floor
after the show.
And there's a weird
There's a weird taste in my mouth.

Yeah there's a weird
there's a weird taste in my mouth.

And all i can think of is your lovely face.
And wonder what the hell im doing in this place.
Im not half the man i used to be
im not half the man i used to be.

And there's a heart break in the making
right now.
yeah there's a heart break in the making
right now.
And there's a heart break in the making
right now.
Yeah there's a heart break in the making
right now.

Now stop and take a look at your life
is this were you ever thought you'd be?
this this were you ever thought you'd be?

And now it's all around you.
Everywhere you see there's love
Everywhere you see.

And now it's all around you.
Everywhere you see there's love
Everywhere you see.

And i suppose i should have been a little nicer to you
But the words of comfort that you owe are way past due
and the ceiling’s caving in and i have
nothing left
i have nothing left
to say to you.

To say to you.
To say to you.

This song was written on 2 separate occasions. One night while driving back from a show in Elberton, GA I noticed the yellow lines passing me by on the road, thus came the line "Yellow lines underneath my feet on the long drive to your hometown." the rest of this verse was inspired by a typical "rock show" the band puts on.

The other half of this song came while I was in Clemson, SC at a small gathering of friends and later on in the night I had became involved with this girl after an argument with my, at the time, Girlfriend, that later resulted in a break-up. So the rest of the song is about a relationship breaking away at the edges and falling into a big pile of nothing.

I absolutely love this song... I already knew a majority of the meaning behind it because the artist is a friend of mine. But I think that a lot of people can relate to the feeling if not the particular situation being described... excellent, and tragic

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
