Altercations, situations, aggrevations
Rain on my parade
Can you pour me a glass of that fine
Whining about, someway somehow, getting up out
Common place charades
Can you cut me that practical slice

Oh, I know
Your glass seems half empty
Take a breath, look to the left
And under that tree

Have you seen the night in the eyes of those boys
Chasing them lightning bugs a step behind
Told me that they gonna conquer
The world one bug at a time
They ain't far behind

Reservations, complications, hesitations
Thorough but so weak
Let me tell you where you missed the
Marking x's and your o's, your words just show
A self-saturated leak
Let me give you a list of ways to tweak

Sir, I don't apologize for being forward
But those boys, those boys, they keep on teaching me
Folks they gotta have something they movin' towards
Swapping limitations for their destiny

This song is one of a kind... it's a known fact that humans put me limits on themselves as they get older because life punches them in the face... in this song he speaks about how the youth are so zealous for life and they dream big...

"Altercations, situations, aggrevations Rain on my parade Can you pour me a glass of that fine Whining about, someway somehow, getting up out Common place charades Can you cut me that practical slice"

You have big dreams for something people will rain on your Parade and give you reasons why I can't work but they will never think of the one reason why I can.

"Oh, I know Your glass seems half empty"

in other words pessimistic. People who see a glass of water as half empty rather than half full... weighing on the negative side of things.

"Have you seen the night in the eyes of those boys Chasing them lightning bugs a step behind Told me that they gonna conquer The world one bug at a time They ain't far behind"

Sounds like he is saying hear children have such a passion for little things like chasing fire Flys. Nothing will take a child's mind off his dream to do something. a child who accomplished something they feel like they can do anything..

"Sir, I don't apologize for being forward But those boys, those boys, they keep on teaching me Folks they gotta have something they movin' towards Swapping limitations for their destiny"

Believe it or not, children have a lot to teach us about dreaming again. we let life decide it destiny for us, and limit ourselves... but we should always be moving towards something

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
