In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I'm not sure the song is questioning god but maybe it's more about questioning the people who say they believe in him and are religious. The song could be referring to people that sin throughout the week but go to church on sunday and they think everything's ok again. I think the song refers to a lot of hypocrites who say they are religious but aren't as good as they seem.

This song is definitely about questioning god. Basically he's saying.. Bring me to church.. talk all your religious BS but I won't really care cuz there's no hard facts about it. And he'll put it off and not worry about it.... I'll start to worry when I'm dead too.
