I will meet you on the stairs, meet you just below the steeple
you can bring all of the people whom you think you can change.
We'll take the elevator down and thought your flesh is unaffected
you'll tell me just how scared you are to watch the others burn.
Watch the others burn.

And if the alter came to us, I don't believer our eyes would shutter
tongues knotted as we stutter
over prayers we'd swore we'd say.
If it was written in that book,
all the answers to the questions
maybe we'd find the time to read it before we die,
someday before we die.

I'll start to worry when I'm dead
I'll start to worry when I'm dead

'Cause we might as well be blind
If seeing is believing
This parable's misleading
you've got your shotgun loaded with excuses
that you'll fire in vain.
But those 12 rounds just won't do,
There's barely time for pity and all the girls are just too pretty.
I'll start to worry when I'm dead. [x3]

We know all there is to know, a carpenter and a magician
bread and wine, and sins from which we must abstain.
That's what the stories said, they said that sins shall be forgiven.
So count your blessings and wait and take this name in vain.
We've got this all wrong
We must have made a mistake...
If there were holes in our hands, I don't believe,
I don't believe that anything would change.

I'll start to worry when I'm dead
I'll start to worry when I'm dead

'Cause we might as well be blind
If seeing is believing
This parable's misleading
you've got your shotgun loaded with excuses
that you'll fire in vain.
But those 12 rounds just won't do,
There's barely time for pity and all the girls are just too pretty.
I'll start to worry when I'm dead. [x4]

I've never coveted nor killed and I was taught to say Amen.
I've read of bloody hands and incorruptibles.
I'm just hoping for the best...
I can't believe that you could say,
"The answers unlock this gate..."
'Cause if you knew his name, not a thing would change
you'd still be wishing you were blessed.

I'll start to worry when I'm dead [x4]

'Cause we might as well be blind
If seeing is believing
This parable's misleading
you've got your shotgun loaded with excuses
that you'll fire in vain.
But those 12 rounds just won't do,
There's barely time for pity and all the girls are just too pretty.
I'll start to worry when I'm dead. [x3]

I'm not sure the song is questioning god but maybe it's more about questioning the people who say they believe in him and are religious. The song could be referring to people that sin throughout the week but go to church on sunday and they think everything's ok again. I think the song refers to a lot of hypocrites who say they are religious but aren't as good as they seem.

this song is NOT about his questioning in God, it is more about faith. he saying that if you knew all of the bible, or whatever then would you follow it through. the below quote was said by rayn himself in an ap chat that they did recently he said that in no way are the songs against God.

(about the album) "I am in no way against God. If you're referring to lyrics on our record, then you must have misunderstood. If you have a question regarding lyrics concerning religion, feel free to ask."

(about the songs) "I promised myself I wouldn't give to much away regarding the lyrical content of our record. I'll just say a few things to help you out. No matter what you religion you believe in, there comes a point in your devotion where books and doctrines and saints and priests mean nothing and you're left with this gap. That gap is faith. What if there was no gap? What if you opened up your bible, the koran, your personal journal...and the answers were right there. Would you do anything about it? If you knew you'd go to hell for the things you'll do...would you change?"

This song is definitely about questioning god. Basically he's saying.. Bring me to church.. talk all your religious BS but I won't really care cuz there's no hard facts about it. And he'll put it off and not worry about it.... I'll start to worry when I'm dead too.

definitely questioning God, this song is very easy to understand

"If it was written in THAT book (bible) All the answers to the questions (of doubt that he has) Maybe we'd find the time to read it before we die" Even if all the answers to the questions he has about religion were written in plain view in the bible he still would "MAYBE find the time to read it" his disbelief in God and Jesus is so strong he won't start to worry until he dies. He kind expresses some doubt that i think even many christians are afraid to admit to having. i dont agree with everything he says but its a good song... much respect haha

it is more about people who say they have faith in God but don't practice it at all.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
