"Split Me Wide Open" as written by and Samuel Bingham Endicott....
Split me wide open and look right inside
There's so many things that I tried to hide
Oh you see right through me
You always see right through me

Split me wide open, and cut me in two
There's nothing that I could ever hide from you
Oh you always knew me, you're the only one who knew me

Is nothing sacred, is nothing saved?
Your gentle eyes like a razor blade
They cut me open, you look right through
I give it all to you

Split me wide open, and cut it at all
My hands on your body like a blind man's on the wall
Oh you always show me, you're the only one who shows me

I am hang on a tree
For these drooling faces that can look up and see
But you always knew me, you're the only one who knew me

Is nothing sacred, is nothing saved?
Your gentle eyes like a razor blade
They cut me open and look right through
I give it all to you

Split me wide open
Split me wide open

Is nothing sacred, is nothing saved?
Your gentle eyes like a razor blade
They cut me open, you look right through
I give it all to you

Split me wide open
Split me wide open

Oh you always knew me, you're the only one who knew me

Split me wide open
Split me wide open

Oh you see right through me, you always see right through me

General CommentSeems to me like a song about a pretty one-sided relationship. He puts his all into it, opens up and tells her everything. She, on the other hand, seems to take him for granted and doesn't invest emotionally in their relationship in the same way he so obviously does.

I love the line: "My hands on your body like a blind man's on the wall".

General CommentThis is like my favorite song by The Bravery. I just got into them about a month ago, because itunes reccommended them to me. I think it's becuase I love The Killers. I was somewhat dissapointed in The Killers second album and when I heard The Bravery, I felt like The Killers' 2nd album should have been like The Bravery's 2nd album. So, whenever I get homesick for The Killers, instead of listening to them, I listen to The Bravery. Although I do find Brandon more attractive than Sam.

But as for this song, I just thought it was about some girl that he really likes because she's the only one who understands him. He can't get anything past her and I guess he's not normally an open book, but this girl can read even the finest of his print. I Didn't really think there was a problem in the realtionship, but whatever. It's still my favorite Bravery song!

General CommentLOL. You weren't the only one dissapointed by The Killers second album. I didn't even buy it. I am much more pleased by The Bravery.

To me this girl seems to be the love of his life. She knows what he thinks, knows his secrets, she gives herself to him and vice-versa. He thought there would never be a person who understans him the way she does. They both understand each other and he's glad he's found the one. He feels like he's on top of the world and when he's out with her, when other guys can do nothing but stare and drool, she is all his, and he to her.

General Commentyeh i also regard this as the killers 2nd should have been, sams town and sawdust was a total let down :(

but as for this song its my favourite from the bravery-i think its pretty straight forward that this chick he likes can see everything and understands him..although there is a hint that this maynot be a good and happy thing thru his choice of word he uses to describe it " ur gentle eyes like a razor blade" contrast..

General Commenti think this song really shows the weirdness of the phrase "you look right through me..."
in this context he means you can tell what i'm thinking and feeling,
but when you think about it, looking through someone should mean that they are invisible to you
