"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Ok, so it's about sex... but u need 2 look deeper into it and not just look at the obvious. Its about how at the "right time" you can feel as if ur in love with someone and u have so much lust for them that u feel that u will do anything to be with them, when most of the time its not actually love that u r feeling... its the desire to please yourself.

It's about sex. A lot of sex. They were at a party and everyone's been drinking a lot, and they end up hooking up. "Sing along if you want; ten more seconds then we're through [the door.]" And "And if you're screaming, I'm screaming too." It means, when he knows she's turned on or whatever, he's turned on, too, and when she's feeling pleasure, so is he. The last verse: "I'll call you in the morning if you think it's right. Is it over? Is it over... (ect)" symbolizes when the party is over and everyone leaves, or when they stop. He either still wants her, or he thinks he feels more. Personally, the first sounds more reasonable.

fight off yer demons. i agree with you about the party scene. seems like during the party everyone is hookin up. so at first the guy thinks its just another girl to hook up with for the one last stand. after the party he regrets taking advantage of her and wants it to be more than just another hook-up relationship. he feels alot for this girl and can't get it out of his head.
