Wake up, my love
Today I heard some bad news
Just what are we all supposed to do?
I won't let them get to you

I don't want to go out on my own anymore
I can't face the night like I used to before

Take my well worn hand
Let's lock ourselves away
We'll never, ever step outside
We'll curl up in a ball and hide

I don't want to go out on my own anymore
I can't face the night like I used to before

I don't want to go out on my own anymore
I can't face the night like I used to before
I'm so sorry for the things that they've done
I'm so sorry about what we've all become

I found this interview with Tom about the song:

"I wrote the words to that song when I found out that someone I went to school with was killed on their way home from work, for no reason. It's not about that event itself, it's about how I felt hearing the news. I can't even begin to imagine the kind of person that would do that to another human being, so when I heard I thought, 'Well, what's the point? What's the point in going outside? What's the point in having any hope at all?' That's all the song is really, just those thoughts....It's a lock the door, stay inside and throw away the key kind of song."

it's sort of like a no-light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel sort of song... but I love the lyrics in spite of their bleakness... "I'm so sorry for the things that they've done/ I'm so sorry about what we've all become"

I read somewhere that a friend of Tom from school was killed and that he couldn't believe people could be so cruel. This song is about that, how after that event it felt unsafe to go outside. Not sure how much truth was in the article.

My dog was at home when my home was broken in to. We were both left traumatised. When I had to put my dog down I placed a typed paper note in his ear before he was cremated. The words were the penultimate sentence in these lyrics: "I'm so sorry for the things that they've done". Like the original meaning behind this song, I wondered "what is the point of going on after this?"

Obviously this song is about a vampire who dosn't want to be a monster anymore. I'm really starting to belive Tom truly thinks he's some sort of night creature, every single song of this album talks about vampires or similars. It's clear as crystal.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
