Wanderlust Lyrics
giving urban a farewell
its habitants seem too keen on God
I cannot stomach their rights and wrong
and I don't want to find it again
rather sailing into nature's laws
and be held by ocean's paws
relentlessly craving wanderlust
peel off the layers
until you get to the core
was it something like this I wished for
or will I want more?
suffocates the soul
this relentless
restlessness
liberates me
sets me free
the unknown surrounds me
I receive its embrace
aboard my floating house
relentlessly craving wanderlust
peel off the layers
until you get to the core
was it something like this I wished for
or will I want more?
from island to island
wanderlust!
united in movement
wonderful!
I enjoy it with you
wanderlust!
can you spot a pattern?
restless relentlessly
restless relentlessly
yeah the lyrics are wrong. they must be like what precipitate says..
i love this song so much! mostly i think the song is about thinking for yourself for your own personal pleasure...like a person's the strong desire to experince something new, and being tired of adhering cultural patterns/norms. also i notice (whether or not it was intentional) that there is the play on the wanderlust to wonderless, which could be alluding to a living in a unadmirable world where noone thinks for themselves... as for the pattern, i thinks its about societal norms, that we all are so used to adhering to. btw, the mathew herbert remix is great as well.
I love this song, especially Ratatat's remix of it...
I have not listened to a ton of Bjork but it is by far the best song I've heard, or understood its meaning.
It is about God, life, and existence. You can hear existentialist dialogue in the verses, and Niezche's philosophy of life and embrace of nature..
Her discomfort results from the God preached and believed in by the masses.
While she herself denounces God, she embraces life, and the world around us, and the human condition of existence. She finds peace only in her own capacity to assert her own individuality in the face of her environment, in other word's she find's comfort only in Tillich's God Above God.
She's quite the religious one..
Haha, you struck it straight from my tongue :) Exactly what I thought and felt.

I love this song.. it depicts how I feel ALOT :D

Bjork claimed herself that the song is about "the state of looking for something and almost knowing you'll never find it". Makes sense. The word "wanderlust" actually refers to someone who has a constant desire to travel or "wander".
she also added the song makes fun of her lust for something new. lol. typical Bjork ;)
Does anyone know if the beeping at the end of the song is Morse Code? If any of you know please do tell. Thank you! :D
so amazing.
p.s. I think the one she sang on snl is slightly different from what the album version will be, maybe because the first few lines are a bit too controversial for that show? anyways, I've found these lyrics on a few sites:
I am leaving this harbour giving urban a farewell it's habitants seem to keen on god i cannot stomach their rights and wrong i have lost my origin and i don't want to find it again rather sailing into nature's laws and be held by ocean's paws
