And so I’m here now, I used to be there
It was before that I was unhappy
Now I’m just numb…
And now I can’t leave
I just sit in my room
With only cigarettes to kill my time
I’ll be fine, I’ll be alright
One more day off my life
On more niche to chisel in the wall
I won’t fall
I’ll keep on breathing in spite of you
Like love was something I never knew
And you can spite me too
Cause I don’t wanna see nobody
I don’t wanna hear nobody
I don’t wanna take nobody home with me tonight
You think it’s funny, I have nobody
Somebody to hold my crummy hand
I’m alone
No ring ring to infect my phone
Nobody’s calling, no one’s home
Except silence and her lovely lovely tone
I swear I’m alone
I’ll just sit here in my hotel room
I’ll just sit here in my rented tomb
I’ll just sit, enjoy the view
I’ll just sit and watch the world go

    Song Meaning

Well, these lyrics just describe what's happening in my life right now. That is -

Sitting in your room, alone, doing whatever - something that is only personal, not social: like a videogame, reading a book, etc - and it pretty much being the only thing you do (hence, a chisel in the wall, almost like you're trapped in it).

And the only one to blame is this other, that you gave yourself to and let down your defenses and such - the result is this song. Thats my interpretation anyway.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
