Let your inhibitions go,
Make every touch electrical,
When you're feeling beautiful,
Will you remember me?

I wanna touch you deep inside,
And find the secrets that you hide,
When your fears are cast aside,
Will you remember me?

Easily forgotten love.
Easily forgotten love.
It's not so easily.

I just want to let you know
My mind refuses to let you go.
I wanna hypnotize you so
You will remember me.

Easily forgotten love.
Easily forgotten love.
It's not so easily.

Easily forgotten love.
Easily forgotten love.
Easily the best I ever had.
Easily the best I ever had.

I think the bass line of this song was taken from one of those retro, early 90's video games likes Bliss's was.

    critisism about fans

people want to remembered by those they idolize, so they'll feel important.

Oh, man. It messed up my comment. D:

-tries again with the rest of it-

Um. That said, I have very little idea what this song is about... X3; Though I'm tempted to think it's something very similar to my analysis of Endlessly. In that...

Boy loves girl (or vice versa, whatever), or perhaps is a little confused over whether he loves her or is just fond of her, and she either doesn't know or doesn't acknowledge it. Maybe this girl is very charismatic or eccentric, or perhaps just a lover of life, which makes me think the first two lines - 'Let your inhibitions go, make every touch electrical' - might be slightly ironic, like he's mimicking the kind of advice she's likely to give.

The boy clearly sees that the girl is very special, and will go far in life, whereas he is quite unsure of himself; he probably thinks he's quite average. So he asks, 'When you're feeling beautiful, will you remember me?' When you're out there, living the life, and I'm still here, working a desk job, will you still remember who I am? Who I was?

'I wanna touch you deep inside, and find the secrets that you hide' - you're so special. What is it that makes you so special? Why are you so different? What are you hiding? And 'when your fears are cast aside' - if you ever tell me your secrets, if you offload your troubles on to me - will you remember me?

'Easily forgotten love'. You don't know it, but I love you, whether it be for better or worse, and because you don't know, it's so easily forgotten. Trampled beneath the rest of your whirlwind life. But it's not so easy for me. Not so easily forgotten. I'll remember, and this will be with me for the rest of my life.

Now, I know the line is 'easily the best I ever had', but I originally misheard it as 'best I NEVER had', and, since then, have sort of thought of it that way when interpreting the song. Were it the best love he'd never had, that would, again, be another line with a soft irony to it; 'this would be fantastic - if it was mine.'

Anyway. Nothing more to say really, other than there was a time not so long ago when I thought of this song as very relevant to me. Relevant in a way other than the one I've described here, though. |3

love is easily forgotten because of little things that happen and the little things that are talked about. he wants the one he's in a relationship to remember him when she's out "feeling beautiful" with other people and possibly remain faithful, he wants her to remember him when "her fears are cast aside" after they talk about something emotional and not just brush it off like some do, and he wants to "hypnotize her so" she remembers him after everything and doesn't forget the love they had.

Matt has said that songs are inspired by his fiance's constant nagging, and i think this is another one aside from Map of the Problematique, in the sense she could nag him so much, but does she really know how much Matt loves her.

in a nutshell he is trying to say that love is easily forgotten, but at the same time it is not so easy to stay in love and remain as faithful as you can. but at the end, the love is easily the best love he ever had because no love before her was better.

    My Interpretation

This song is such a personal matter for me, so I believe I’ll describe it in the two ways I believe it should be. It’s awkward I know.

    • Video-Movie-ish. When the lyric begins with:

‘Let your inhibitions go Make every touch electrical When you're feeling beautiful Will you remember me?’

There’s this guy who dreams about someone who cannot reach, wakes up, gets anxious, ‘cause he firmly believes not even in his dreams he might escape from this person, he feels haunted by her, ‘cause he is missing and can’t forget nor forgive, it reflexes on the second verse:

‘I want to touch you deep inside And find the secrets that you hide When you fears are cast aside Will you remember me?’

So he shuts down himself for a second and then the verse comes.

‘Easily forgotten love Easily forgotten love It's not so easily’

Change of location asap, he’s standing in front of a grave:

‘I just want to let you know My mind refuses to let you go I wanna hypnotise you so You will remember me’

Then comes the same verse but hint here, it comes with a very emotional solo. Which in very quick and clear images, you can see he believes he’s seeing her being unfaithful, he rans away, she runs after him, a car struck against her by accident, she confesses it was a misunderstanding, next minute she’s dead.

‘Easily forgotten love Easily forgotten love It's not so easily’ (Solo)

Guilty can be a killer as well, that’s why he repeats the same all over. Standing on the initial grave, he plays with a little box inside his pocket. He puts it on the grave and turns around.

‘Easily forgotten love Easily forgotten love Easily the best I ever had Easily the best I ever had’

In the very last end, he quickly turns again and founds out the box is open with the ring he bought for her still in it. That’s when you figure he loves her, she does as well, wherever she’s now; just can’t be together anymore.

End of my Mexican novela. LOL. Now the meaning according just to the lyrics.

    • Lyrics-ish.

‘Let your inhibitions go Make every touch electrical When you're feeling beautiful Will you remember me? I want to touch you deep inside And find the secrets that you hide When you fears are cast aside Will you remember me?’

The first verse basically says all over very clear (at least to me) he’s pleading for an answer, he’s there for her, even tho he realizes he might not be what she aims; but she loved him once, that’s why he asks and pledges at the same time.

‘Easily forgotten love Easily forgotten love It's not so easily’ Yeah, maybe she got over it. He didn’t. Hard to accept you are the losing one when the other just let you pass as if nothing ever happened.

‘I just want to let you know My mind refuses to let you go I wanna hypnotise you so You will remember me’

As it is this verse, means every single word. I can’t forget you, please remember me.

‘Easily forgotten love Easily forgotten love It's not so easily Easily forgotten love Easily forgotten love Easily the best I ever had Easily the best I ever had’

Same than the last one, just adding that his love was the best he ever had. Like the ‘Grey Sky Morning-Best I’ve ever had’ song by Vertical Horizon (fully recommended btw) resuming it, this very song, Vertical Horizon says: ‘Hey you are the best that ever happened for me, not for that you want me back, neither do I. Even tho I’m still in love with you’. Contrary case in here. Where the feelings seems one-sided.

The End. LOL. Sorry for my grammar. In fact I dunno speak English as a native. Cheers.

The missing lyrics are 'I wanna hypnotize your soul'

Also at the end i think he sings: 'Easily forgotten love Easily forgotten love Easily the best I've (n)ever had Easily the best I've (n)ever had It's not so easily'

Not sure whether he sings 'never' or 'ever' though...

This song means so much 2 me!...its such an awsome song...i can totally relate it to a situation im in at the moment. i think Matts talking about someone that he loves, but hes questioning her because he thinks that even though they tell eachother everything, that she is hiding something from him, something that is really troubling her, and he wants to see what her feelings really are. "i wanna touch you deep inside, and find the secrets that you hide" i also think that the relationship that Matt is having with this girl is uneven. What i mean by that is that she always seems to have some sort of problem which she off loads to him and to no one else. As a result he feels burdened and it drives him to questioning, "when your fears are cast aside, will you remember me?" he is puzzled by her behaviour and he is fighting in his head, that if she wasnt afraid and so insecure with her problems, that she would forget all about him and move on. Hence the words "easily forgotten love, easily forgotten love" he is also saying that this was one of the best relationships hes had and he wants to fix this problem that is questioning him so much hence the words 'easily the best i ever had, easily the best i ever had'

i think the missing lyrics are actually "I wanna HYPNOTIZE YOU SO you will remember me" also the ending is "Easily the best I ever had"

maybe it is about desiring an intimate relationship with someone but you can not get them to be yours or open up emotionally yet you still love them
