Turn around there's those eyes again.
Turn around fake indifference and I.
Watch their cold, dark silhouettes disappear.
A hundred bodies fill this room.
And all their faces overdone.
Pain is foreign, foreign to us.

I don't even know you.
You won't even know I'm gone.
Was it something I did wrong?

Roses, roses cold.
Roses, roses sold out.

Turn around reds and whites again.
I'd sell my kicks for one more low tar.
Fevers hand in hand with shoelace bracelets. Why are some girls so naive?
He didn't unbutton your blouse to see.
A better view of your heart.
Oh yeah, can't blame you for trying.

I don't even know you.
You won't even know I'm gone.
Was it something I did wrong?

Roses, roses cold.
Roses, roses sold out.

Sing it soft.
Make it slow.
Apples parachute
the boys back down.
Fill it up.
Overflow.
A new, improved modern way to feel.

I don't even know you.
You won't even know I'm gone.
Was it something I did wrong?

i agree, its deff about drugs... they're in a club... "All their faces overdone, pain is foreign, foreign to us..." it's an ecstacy reference... As well as: "Fevers hand in hand with shoelace bracelets." X gets your body temp up hardcore... and as users, me and my friends have actually used shoelaces to chew on while we've "geeked" (the side affect that makes your jaw clamp shut against your will)... "All their faces overdone" might be talkin bout a "thizz face"... X makes the muscles in your face involuntarily flex and tighten, and the user makes some funny faces...

i definitely can see the connection to drugs in this song, but i think that's more of an abstract meaning. It could quite possibly have a double meaning. I think it takes place in a bar where there are women with "faces overdone" with makeup. The women are all looking for love, but not expecting to get hurt easily. The opposing expectations of the men in the room are not as innocent. "he didn't unbutton your shirt for a better view of your heart." This is just my opinion, but I believe that the "roses" could represent the opposite intentions of the men. Guys throw around the "l word" constantly and the song in a way is a representation of a girl who fell into the idea that a guy does love her, but truly he doesn't even know her, may never see her again, and will not try to. "you won't even know im gone" then the part, "apples parachute the boys back down" means boys come down from their lust much more quickly than girls. They're over the short-lived relationship as soon as they've gotten what they want, basically sex. (roses that are cold)

Turn around there's those eyes again. Turn around fake indifference and I. [Watch their cold, dark silhouettes disappear. A hundred bodies fill this room. And all their faces overdone. Pain is foreign, foreign to us.] At first I thought this verse was supposed to be morbid. I thought the bodies line was referring to corpses XD. But after reading it over again I realize it's referring to a dance club or a rave...as for the "pain is foreign to us" they're probably on morphine or something LOL

[I'd sell my kicks for one more low tar.] She wants a smoke. XD

[Fevers hand in hand with shoelace bracelets.] Noticing the couples around. Their hands are tied together with shoelaces. Because it's romantic, I guess? Or something...

[Why are some girls so naive? He didn't unbutton your blouse to see a better view of your heart.] So there's some girl with her guy and they're...having fun. LOL She's just commenting on how some girls are really naive and domr guys don't actually love them-- they just want someone to bang :)

[ Apples parachute the boys back down. ] ...I have no idea what this means. Maybe the girl whose point of view the song is from got high, too? XD Because that makes NO SENSE. WHATSOEVER. Unless "apples" and "parachutes" have some strange meaning that I'm not aware of.

There are pretty girls who sell roses for a couple dollars in some bars with little flower baskets. I think that's what the entire song is referring to. A flower girl in a bar or a club or something, being a bit jealous of all the couples around...

i agree with daniface..the ending..i think it means. that [Sing it soft. Make it slow. Apples parachute the boys back down. Fill it up. Overflow. A new, improved modern way to feel]

a girl thats a flower girl.decide to stand up and say its ok to keep your rose.(virgirnty)

    {I don't even know you. You won't even know I'm gone. Was it something I did wrong? }

the giving up your roses leaves you asking question and alone

    {Roses, roses cold. Roses, roses sold out.}

[ Apples parachute the boys back down. ]

What do apples do when you drop them? They crash down. So it's like an oxymoron.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
