| i definitely can see the connection to drugs in this song, but i think that's more of an abstract meaning. It could quite possibly have a double meaning. I think it takes place in a bar where there are women with "faces overdone" with makeup. The women are all looking for love, but not expecting to get hurt easily. The opposing expectations of the men in the room are not as innocent. "he didn't unbutton your shirt for a better view of your heart." This is just my opinion, but I believe that the "roses" could represent the opposite intentions of the men. Guys throw around the "l word" constantly and the song in a way is a representation of a girl who fell into the idea that a guy does love her, but truly he doesn't even know her, may never see her again, and will not try to. "you won't even know im gone" then the part, "apples parachute the boys back down" means boys come down from their lust much more quickly than girls. They're over the short-lived relationship as soon as they've gotten what they want, basically sex. (roses that are cold) | |
