Emergency above
Put on your hard hats and invisible gloves
What's going on?
I was on the wagon, I thought I was done
You have to watch out
When one falls in another can't get out

You say that I like what you say
I like what you say
You say that I like what you say
I like what you say

They say I have to have somebody
They say you have to be someones
They say if you're not lonely alone
Boy, there is something wrong

You say that I like what you say
I like what you say
You say that I like what you say
I like what you say

You say baby, I only wanna make you happy
Baby, I only wanna make you

They say you learn from your mistakes
That's not always the case
And seeing that I understand
How I made 'em again and again

They say you have to have somebody
They say you have to be someones
They say if you're not lonely alone
Boy, there is something wrong

You say that I like what you say
I like what you say
You say that I like what you say
I like what you say

You say baby, I only wanna make you happy
Baby, I only wanna make you happy
Lately I only wanna make you happy
Baby, I only wanna make you

Even though this song is somewhat positive, I find that it makes me fall into that deep heartsick feeling.

I regret not having heard this before! It had been floating in the void of oblivion that I call a part of my music folder until now.

By the way, it's actually "They say you have to be someone's".

I think it's about never thinking you'll love again after a bad break up until you find that one person that takes your breath away.

I actually think it's about not being able to get over someone. You see yourself making the same mistakes over again with other people. "I was on the wagon, I thought I was done" could mean at least two different things. First, you thought you were done finding the right person, but it was suddenly it was all torn apart or maybe it means that you thought you were done getting over that person, but somehow he/she is still part of your life, surprisingly enough. "When one falls in, another comes out" could mean that one of the two decided to break up and became a totally different person, as if he/she had fallen into a hole (perhaps falling in love for someone else) and was completely changed after that. Finally, i think the chorus refers to this idea of everyone else being just 'them', saying you have to be with someone, but not really connecting to you. You're with someone just because you're supposed to, not because you love them like you did love that person you now miss. "I like what you say" would then mean "I like what my real love says" which is so much greater than everyone's idea of being with someone just for the sake of it.

Albeit it may be just a little too late.

I can't believe this song came out 2 years ago on the John Tucker Must Die Soundtrack and I never heard it till now.

I've only heard 3 of the new songs on Lucky and this song is easily the best. However, the other two, See These Bones and Weightless, are great songs as well.

The first stanza talks about losing the one you thought you were going to spend the rest of your life with. Then you always find someone new, even after the other's gone out.

The second stanza: you like hearing the new person's feelings, what they have to say

the rest goes on to say that he can't stand loving somebody after the other person, no matter how much he likes them and how they want to make them happy.

Ok, maybe Im crazy, but isnt there another verse before the OOH x 3s?

"They say learn from your mistakes Thats not always the case See 'em now to understand How I made 'em again and again"

Im pretty sure im not delusional, but cant find the verse on any lyric websites. I think thats only on the album and not the soundtrack? Iunno.

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
