Well, it was written there in your blood
That we were all forged out of them all
As you sat quietly in your antique chair, and stared
I gave it all I could, and I, I gave it hell
Well, oh, I guess I don't care

Step away from my lips
Step away from my throat
If you need me let me know
Step away from my lips
Step away from my throat
Oh, just let me know

Well, you were catalogue coming script of boyish tales
Of all his conquests of the damsels in distress, whoa oh
As he seeks inside your heart out and multiply
And the pain beneath your eyes gets,
gets captured and glossed.

Step away from my lips
Step away from my throat
If you need me let me know
Step away from my lips
Step away from my throat

So, step away from my lips
Step away from my throat
Oh, just let me know
Step away from my lips
Step away from my throat
Oh, just let me know

Step away from my lips
Step away from my throat
Whoa, oh
Step away from my lips
Step away from my throat
Whoa, oh
Step away from my, my, my, my
Step away from my throat
Whoa, oh
Step away from my, my, my, my
Step away from my throat
Whoa, oh just let me know

In the first stanza I hear this: Well, it was written there in your blood That we were all forged out of them all As you sat quietly in your antique chair, and stared I gave it all I could, and I, I gave it hell Oh, I guess I don't care

Other than that---this song is awesome!

This song makes me think of vampires. Maybe love. To the point where... the vampire (like a girlfriend/boyfriend or even maybe like a parent) used to act like they needed them alot but now they act like they don't care about them no matter how much of anything they have sacrificed for them. And its just someone going la de da --like whatever i'm done with it.

---my interpretation. its just what i invision in my head when it plays.

I love this song. But i dont get it, as far as what its about. I'm metaphorically challenged, i guess.

"Well, it was written there in your blood That we were all forged out of them all"

"Well, you were catalogue coming script of boyish tales"

all i'm getting is stuff about writing. So maybe...its about this girl having this fantasy, this picture of the perfect guy, and maybe she was disappointed once she finds out this guy is nothing like who she imagined or fantasized, or whatever. and she's all, get away from me your a fake.

    or something.

i dont know. it was a shot?

to me this song means that he chose this girl because of many things that she is actually not. she is not the "damsel in distress" he orginally saved and now he dosent care anymore. it dosent hurt him but it actually hurts her because she wants him

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
