This is the sound of one voice
One spirit, one voice
The sound of one who makes a choice
This is the sound of one voice
This is the sound of one voice

This is the sound of voices two
The sound of me singing with you
Helping each otherto make it through
This is the sound of voices two
This is the sound of voices two

This is the sound of voices three
Singing together in harmony
Surrendering to the mystery
This is the sound of voices three
This is the sound of voices three

This is the sound of all of us
Singing with love and the will to trust
Leave the rest behind, it'll turn to dust
This is the sound of all of us
This is the sound of all of us

This is the sound of one voice
One people, one voice
A song for every one of us
This is the sound of one voice
This is the sound of one voice

General CommentThis song moves me in a way that is hard to describe. Makes me cry every time. It is a song about individuality but a song about unity at the same time. We each speak with our own voice, but it can be one voice if we join together. It is a powerful statement.

General CommentI first found out about this song when I sang it with my choir. Ruth Moody wrote it after being at a folk festival where everyone joined in at the end and sang a song together. One Voice is my favorite all-time song; it puts that feeling of happiness created by having a loving friend or community into words, and expresses that human desire to belong and share experiences and even hurts with others. Just amazing.
