The floor you walk on is smooth. There is no ground there.
Magic begins with blood. Outside, there are trees,
With concrete under their roots. But I have passed the tombs of kings,
Regaled them with pacing, checked bins for food and wrappings.
I have scoured the seas for miles, cloaked my face with ash.
My fingertips opening, accepting my time.

The dark cylinders of half-smoked cigarettes
For me, I’m your sorrow
Calling in your dreams
For me, I’m your shadow
Howling in the streets

Tomorrow, I will walk the streets
And steel myself for the familiar. Your eyes
Will not settle, a hunger. You’d be happier in your grave.
When we meet, share stories, you stretch me. I see,
I see a semi-circle of teeth.

The dark cylinders of half-smoked cigarettes
For me, I’m your sorrow
Calling in your dreams
For me, I’m your shadow
Howling in the streets

love the deep undertones, the whispering style of the vocal...

: smoke rising, curling... slowly filling ones field of vision... a rainstorm on a evening in the city... the mellow high of meeting someone... or walking away from all the commotion... :

    thats my take.

ps - 'cant wait' for the miami-vice comments to kick in (as this was a great track before it went bigtime public on the soundtrack for such a wonderful and below-the-radar-awesome group

after the first chorus there is a verse before the "Tomorrow I will walk the streets...."

    And it is,

"Water chimes in the space between rocks, Speakers discharge and laughter is in the air, Glass divides us, empty bottles mark the steady sweep of day"

and if anyone has an explaination for the first paragraph or verse or whatever it's called, I'd appreciate it.... I'm curious, like George and funny like no one

    My Interpretation

For me it sounds very much like the point of view of a literal vampire-

"magic begins with blood" -their supernatural powers stem from drinking blood

"But I have passed the tombs of kings"- an immortal speaking of his vast timespan on the earth

"Your eyes Will not settle, a hunger. You'd be happier in your grave." -speaking of the onset of the insatiable bloodlust

"I see a semi-circle of teeth." -just sounds very vamp-ish to me

Maybe it's vampires, seem to be popular these days, who knows.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
