We were losing our minds in the dark of the cottage
Cause we burnt the last candle, eaten all of the canned food
Me and my friend Patrick boarded ourselves indoors
We went north up the East Coast when we fled the horde
I said Patrick there's a girl back down south in the city
And I think I love her, she is so pretty
And he said it's just us in here and it's them out there
Survivors are few, you know she's probably dead
I said I know that out there I'm nothing but food
But if I can't be with her then I might as well be dead too

He said Chris Burrows you're crazy but do what you gotta
If you really love her I'm not gonna stop you
This chainsaw is heavy but at least you'll be ready
Get going loverboy there's a boat by the jetty
I said thank you dear Patrick I'll never forget you
I promise if I can I'll come back and get you

So me and my dog rode the boat down the river
Hungry and tired when we finally got there
The place was a warzone, those bastards were everywhere
With death in their eyes, they ran and they ran
I said hey there small boy I don't wanna use this
Come any closer I promise I'll do it
I guess that's what brains look like and that's how it feels
When you kill children but when you love a girl
You just can not stop till you're holding her tight
So I kept on fighting praying that she's still alive

So we walked to her house up the hill to west Hobart
Expecting the worst and armed with a crowbar
I kicked down her door, she said quick to your left
My new boyfriend's one of them it's like he's possessed
So I hacked him into pieces and when I was done
We made out for hours and she said I knew you would come

Now we live on a farm that we built by the sea
Somewhere they won't find us hidden by the trees
We play with the animals grow all our own food
And I think I love her and I think that she loves me too

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again.
