"Shadows On The Mountainside" as written by and Jeffrey Scott/chatwood Martin....
We are spirits passing through the doors of time
With an invitation heard before we find
Shadows on the mountainside
Eagles find the souls they hide

And the outcast child enchanted by the sun
Will he seek his shelter never knowing one
Shadows on the mountainside
Eagles find the souls they hide

Shadows on the mountainside
Cover me with sleep
Because I need it now

And the red rivers flow to seas
And she will return to me
And then all that I am is in her hands
And I will return to her and then
I begin

General CommentJeff Martin said when he covered this in a concert he did in Australia: what ever one is his live solo CD; that he wrote it when they were reefing it up in the Rockies in Western Canada and he saw crazy things in the shadows of the mountains.

My InterpretationGives me the impression of someone that is feeling a bit lost in life (or love or both?). They are contemplating it all in a quite mystical / philosophical manner. Where to next? Is there hope to return to what was before?

I love the poetry of the lyrics and the imagery it creates for me.

@Chewch comment really ties together the mystical themes of the song for me too.
