novia, we're blessed and we were always on the crest
and we were best of friends long before the night could end
now we'll point our fingers to whose fault it was we took so long to come around
but i vote we be happy now

novia, it took a lot of courage to say the things you did
and i'm glad that you found in yourself what i couldn't find in me
we shouldn't care whose fault it was we took so long to come around
i vote we be happy now

what's meant to be will surely someday come to pass
i'm so sorry he left you somewhat thinner
but your past is gone, focus wrong
stoke the fire that burns the letters
ship to shore, swim some more, no one can hold that against you now

and you'll believe somehow

somewhere between the actions that i can't stop and the words i can't get out
let the way my fingers part your hair speak volumes to you now
and novi, you're the strong one
novi, you're the strong one

what's meant to be will surely someday come to pass
i'm so sorry he left you somewhat thinner
but your past is gone, focus wrong
stoke the fire that burns the letters
ship to shore, swim some more, no one can hold that against you now

open up your eyes
morning bless your sight
oh, and i cannot believe the things we did last night
now you are like a ghost
living in my town
everywhere i look and yet you're nowhere to be found

but your past is gone
focus wrong
stoke the fire that burns the letters
ship to shore
swim some more
no one can hold that against you
you're the accident that happens
when we're busy making other plans
i never saw you coming
i hope i never see you go

what's meant to be will surely someday come to pass
i'm so sorry he left you somewhat thinner
but your past is gone, focus wrong
stoke the fire that burns the letters
ship to shore, swim some more, no one can hold that against you now

not now..

i think that this song can be related to any young relationship that started as friends first, "your the accident that happens when were busy making other plans". I feel that this also says that you can't always explains what happens or why sometimes you just have to give it all up to faith!!

"now we'll point our fingers to whose fault it was we took so long to come around but i vote we be happy now" i can imagine a relationship that evolved from a friendship to more then once you comfortable in that relationship you become more considered about the little things and you don't realize how far the two of you have actuallly come!

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
