"Homeland" as written by and Joey/michaeli Tempest....
At the edge of darkness
There was nothing left
And nobody could care about me
In a yard filled with toys
I would pass the time
With a friend of mine (imaginary)

And I'll be gone today
Won't you come I'll be gone today
Won't you come I'm always chasing you
Won't you come I'll be always chasing you
Won't you run I'll be gone today
Won't you come I'll be gone away

Come on down to my house
There's a swimming pool
And it's winning over everybody
In a town I call home
I was looking at you
But you never seem to look at me

And I'll be gone today
Won't you come I'll be gone today
Won't you come I'm always chasing you
Won't you come I'll be always chasing you
Won't you run I'll be gone today
Won't you come I'll be gone away

General Commentit seems to be about a person who's growing up and doesn't have many friends or any girlfriends. he tries to impress peopel ith his toys and pools but still he feels like he's chasing people trying to get them to be his friend. and eventually he feels like no one there cares so he's either just going to leave or kill himself depending on how you interpret "gone" in the song.

    General CommentI agree...
He wants all the attention of everyone because all his life he played with his imaginary friend but he especially wants the attention of a certain person:

General Comment*sighs* This band doesn't get nearly enough attention.

I think it's a song about being lonely. His physical belongings impress people, but any friends he has are fake. He likes a girl that doesn't like him back, and he's asking her to escape the superficiality with him, possibly by becoming intimate or running away from his "homeland" to start anew.

General CommentYeah, I agree. Stellastarr* are an amazing band and probably one of the greatest that never made it huge. In my opinion, better than the killers.
