i'll see you later, i can't imagine why
i'd start allergic reactions
pour some more sand dear, cover ankle bites
you want it easy, you're kidding?

boy you've gone and done it now
your stuck down the center, in left of the middle
all those jokes and silly games
you've wasted so much time.
boy you've gone and made a mess
stuck down in the middle, right left of the center
all these symptomatic things
are worse than yesterday

so sick and tired of automatic wash
why you don't you do me a favor
i love the smell of arbitrary loss
i want it easy, i'm dreaming

boy you've gone and done it now
your stuck down the center, in left of the middle
all those jokes and silly games
you've wasted so much time.
boy you've gone and made a mess
stuck down in the middle, right left of the center
all these symptomatic things
are worse than yesterday

maybe i could give it one more try

boy you've gone and done it now
your stuck down the center, in left of the middle
all those jokes and silly games
you've wasted so much time.
boy you've gone and made a mess
stuck down in the middle, right left of the center
all these symptomatic things
are worse than yesterday

This song is amazing. It also got me into Mellowdrone, which if you like this then you should CHECK OUT THIS MOMENT mellowdrone.com. It's just as good and very similar sounding instrumentation wise. Jonathans voice is top notch, and his lyrics although a bit off the wall always hit the spot.

I think this is relational, and next to McLuskys "Gareth Brown Says" this is my favourite opening line. What a great way to express not being sure why you're going through the motions.

I think it sort of expresses both disapproval towards someone else (all those jokes and silly games, you wasted so much time) and lack of self-confidence (Maybe I could give it one more try) An excellent song, btw.

"l'll see you later, i can't imagine why i'd start allergic reactions" To me, it's kinda like pointing out ones own stupidity. Telling that you're going to see that person, even if you know you'll be hurt. Like people who eat too much junk food even when they know they're gonna get fat.

"all those jokes and silly games you've wasted so much time" Everytime I hear that line, I think of being stuck in something that you thought might be worth something, when it's just a game. All those hours you could've spent on something else and you purposely gave it up for something you thought was better.

"so sick and tired of automatic wash why you don't you do me a favor" Just like being bored of the same, everyday routine, like an automatic wash would be. Sure, it's custom, it's easy. But it's not really personal. It's just automatic.

"maybe i could give it one more try" After that climatic chorus, it goes straight into a soft almost spoken line, with that piano in the background. Like your at the end of your ropes, broken and beaten, and you still have that smallest glimmer of hope. And the second time it's repeated, it's almost said as if the person is crying out. Maybe to nothing at all.

It's personally one of my favorite songs

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
