Die Another Day

This song is about carrying on. It's about living but only existing and recognizing that factor. It's about considering suicide but choosing to carry on instead. It's just basically about some woman's mind contemplating whether or not to go on.

I think this song is bascially abot destroying the satan inside of you. it is inspired by kabbalah, wich says that satan is actually the human ego. in the video for this song it's quite clear. madonna is about to be executed and before that happens we se her inside struggle against her ego. the white/black dressed madonna symolises this. she sings im gonna destroy my ego i guess i'll die another day its not my time to go. and in the end white madonna kills black madonna and therefore the real person madonna whos being executed can escape from the electric chair. so she overcomes her ego and therefor can continute to live her life. i think it's all really symbolic and i think that the video expresses pretty much what the song is actually about. anyway that's how i got it.

Yes I agree with metalscream. Die Another Day is about Madonna's desire to keep going no matter what her detractors have said about her. Die Another Day is the best song from her Zeroes Masterpiece American Life because when Madonna sadly writes in her Kabbalah poem book "I guess I'll die another day/It's not my time to go!," she still means it this time! Madonna is the most famous woman in history because she earned it. Die Another Day is one of the songs for her that is a simple statement of fact! Better get used to Madonna because she ain't never going away anytime soon! Lady Madge is a survivor in Rock!

I think this is the influence of Yoga showing up on Madonna. She started with Yoga arnd 96 and this was released in 2002. Here are some of my thoughts .....

In my opinion, most of the title songs for 007 movies are about 007 the man.

It's about being interrogated.

The song is about being the exception to basic psychological truths... hence the line "Sigmund Freud, Analyze this."

She is basically saying that she is doing everything the opposite of what these truths are... Ex. "I'm gonna destroy my ego" and "I'm gonna delay my pleasure" which is the opposite of human nature. We seek to achieve pleasure as fast as possible.

I agree with 'sourbitterolives' the song is about a contemplation of self destruction, however she comes across a slight optimism in considering she is eventually going to die anyway so in the mean time she's just going to exist and carry on even if it's not what she wants. The fact that she "breaks the cycle" defats the idea of predictability, when most things get tough people eventually give up however the song demonstrates shes not going to surrender or she's not going to go through a big transformation and come out the other end much better off. She's going to roll with the punches just for the experience as she will "die another day".
