Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again

Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again

However far away, I will always love you
However long I stay, I will always love you
Whatever words I say, I will always love you
I will always love you

Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again

However far away, I will always love you
However long I stay, I will always love you
Whatever words I say, I will always love you
I will always love you

    My Interpretation

Heh heh the lyric is very self explanatory, but I suppose there's no harm in dissecting it for a more elaborate (free) interpretation.

Whenever I'm alone with you You make me feel like I am home again Whenever I'm alone with you You make me feel like I am whole again

The guy is far away from home, has left the place he belonged to for a long time and never really found it again. He's scarred, part of him destroyed, life hasn't been too kind to him. But this person he's singing for gives him peace every time they're alone together.

Whenever I'm alone with you You make me feel like I am young again Whenever I'm alone with you You make me feel like I am fun again

He's old and broken, he's tired and he doesn't feel like he's happy or making other people happy. But being together with this person makes him forget about all that. This person gives him joy.

However far away, I will always love you However long I stay, I will always love you Whatever words I say, I will always love you I will always love you

He can't be with the person he's singing for all the time, not even a lot of times, but he will always love this person. He might stay only for a short while, he say and do hurtful things and probably can't help but keep on doing it, but despite all that he will always love this person.

Whenever I'm alone with you You make me feel like I am free again Whenever I'm alone with you You make me feel like I am clean again

He isn't free, he's tied to situations and things or people or his own needs and choices that make him unhappy but he can't break away. He feels dirty, might be for living a life of crime or having diseases or stuff within himself that he considers unclean. But every time he's with this person, he feels liberated, clean again.

However far away, I will always love you However long I stay, I will always love you Whatever words I say, I will always love you I will always love you

Life sucks he sucks they can't be together freely he says and do hurtful things without meaning to, but he loves this person, and will always love this person until the day he dies, despite everything.

I like this one way more than The Cure's version.

Let me just say that both versions are unique in their own way and, personally, I couldn't live without either one of them...

I think this song is pretty self explainatory... this girl he's singing about is something special, she makes him a new man and no matter what happens-fights, distance, misunderstandings, this girl should know that he loves her a lot, and stupid little things wont get in the way of that

I agree with SoccrFwd13, this is way better than the Cure, it has more soul to it.

This is one of the best covers ever. 311 is such a talented band and they put on some nasty concerts. Hexum is definitely a rock god. I can't think of a band out right now that mixes so many different kinds of music into such a perfect sound. These guys definitely have a lot of chemistry and one of the reasons I dig 'em is because they do their own thing. True music fans love them and idiots hate them.

The Cure version is nice, but it's a little dreary (which is ok). This version is amazing for a cover. They've added nuances to the song that make it awesome.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
