Your eyes tell the stories of a day you wish you could
Recall the moments that once have
Retrack the footsteps that brought us to this favor
I wouldn't ask this of you

Good eye, sniper, I shoot, you run
The words you scribbled on the walls
With the loss of friends you didn't have
I'll call you when the time is right
Are you in or are you out?
For them all to know the end of us all

Run quick, they're behind us, you didn't think we'd ever make it
This close to safety in one piece
Now you wanna kill me in the act of what could maybe
Save us from sleep and what we are

Good eye, sniper, now I shoot, you run
The words you scribbled on the walls
With the loss of friends you didn't have
I'll call you when the time is right
Are you in or are you out?
For them all to know the end of us all

Bye bye beautiful, I don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
The face step, let down, the face step, step down

The words you scribbled on the walls
With the loss of friends you didn't have
I'll call you when the time is right
Are you in or are you out?
For them all to know

Bye bye beautiful, I don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
The face step, let down, the face step, step down

Bye bye beautiful, I don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
The face step, let down, the face step, step down

This song is just one of them that aren't about anything specific. Claudio, Ambellina, and Sizer caught a ride from Al on his ship, the Velorium Camper, from the planet of Godder Damm to the planet of Silent Earth. When they arrive, Jesse's forces are already there battling Wilhelm Ryan's forces at the House Atlantic, Wilhelm Ryan's stronghold.

If anything this song is about the battle and subsequent retreat of Jesse's forces with Claudio, Ambellina, and Sizer. The sniper is no one specific. The song could be from Claudio's point of view. The "favor" is everyone helping out in the battle that really belongs to Claudio, and Claudio alone.

When they begin to retreat, he can't believe they all "made it to safety in one piece." At the end of the battle, they accomplished at least staying alive to fight another day.

    My Interpretation

As someone who had not heard of the comics or storyline thread before I first heard this song this is what I decided this song meant.

Your eyes tell the stories of a day you wish you could Recall the moments that once Retrace the footsteps that brought us to this favor I wouldn't ask this of you (two lovers are seeing the memories of their now doomed relationship flashing in each others eyes. the narrator tells the other person not to try to create a timeline of where it went wrong)

Good eye, sniper I shoot, you run (a sarcastic line: so hurt by their actions the narrator calls the other person a sniper and says it's time to reverse roles, this may either imply betrayal and revenge or a constant game-loop they are stuck in instead of just breaking up)

The words you scribbled on the walls With the loss of friends you didn't have I'll call you when the time is right Are you in or are you out? For them all to know the end of us all
(when a relationship ends mutual friends will choose sides, the narrator may be implying that they've already chosen the other person or that the other person lied to keep the friends. It's time to tell everyone that they broke up and what really happened, is the other person ready?)

Run quick, they're behind us Didn't think we'd ever make it This close to safety in one piece Now you want to kill me in the act of what could maybe Save us from sleep and what we are (everyone is talking about them and the narrator is surprised their relationship lasted as long as it has and feels even more betrayed by keeping up appearances)

Good eye, sniper Now I shoot, you run (the game of hurting each other continues)

The words you scribbled on the walls With the loss of friends you didn't have I'll call you when the time is right Are you in or are you out? For them all to know the end of us all

Bye bye, beautiful Don't bother to write Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars Face step, let down Face step, step down (the narrator decides forget it, they're done, the other person has said enough and they're not pretending anymore)

Alright i just want to sau that i have read the comics that go along witht his story and i want to clear upa couple things.

    • Al the killer does not even use a sniper, nor does he have sexual affiliation with one, so there you go.
    • Al also did not have feelings for ambelina
    • Also, Al was going to bring them there for the bounty but Claudio and him got into a battle and the group got split up.

If someone could help decipher the lyrics thpugh that'd be great, i just keep seing these same things over and over again and i wanted to say something.

I read somewhere that during this song is when Claudio (in the story) is running from a sniper of some kind... but it wasn't very clear about that and I'm not 100% sure that that was right... the story seriously confuses me if anyone wants to help me out... i don't get the whole "even number son/nephew" thing at all for example...

The Sniper thing isn't really about a sniper at all lol. More of a girl, who is shooting through his heart, not really a man with a gun. But like you I am confused on what this song really means. Something about love and possibly being bitter toward an ex? "Bye Bye Beautiful, Don't Bother to Write"

I think all of Coheed's songs are very confusing and could mean many different things. Altough it is suppose to follow a story i think most of the story is meant to be interperated by the listener.

I think it's a break up song... but it really could be everything. I dunno, the "bye bye beautiful" part is what convinces me. This is one of my favourite songs, though.

Actually I don't exactly knnow how this song fits into the story but I do know about the even numbered nephew. Claudio stated himself that Jesse (Coheed's borther) AKA The Prize Fighter Inferno has 4 nephews and nieces obviously you guys prolly knew that. Coheed and Cambrias children are who I'm talking about. Well anyways Claudio in the story is the only surviving child and is also the second born making him the even numbered nephew to Jesse. Understand?

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
