I get all numb
When she sings, then it's over
Such a strange numb
And it brings my knees to the earth

And God bless you all
For the song you sang us

You're the same numb
When you sing, it's over
Such a strange numb
It could bring back peace to the earth

So God bless you all
For the song you sang us all
For the hearts you break
Every time you moan

I get all numb
We're the same numb
And it brings our knees to the earth

So God bless you all
For the song you sang us all
For the hearts you break
Every time you moan
And God bless you all on the earth

To me the message is quite clear. So hopefully I am able to clear it up for all of you. I'll start with this. In an interview with Chino, he stated that he is so captivated with the beauty of women. Not young women, but older women who carry with them a true sense of beauty. "They can change shit" he says.

Now I myself have an affinity towards women. I think they are so incredibly beautiful, especially when involved with some form of art. My gf draws pictures and paints and to see her work just completely puts me in rapture.

"Such a strange numb It could bring back peace to the earth"

The musical voice of a woman is capable of pacifying everyone, even while everyone stands with differing opinions and points of views, the beauty is what reminds us that we all have a heart and it can truly be interconnected.

"And God bless you all For the song you saved us... "

He is thanking all of the women singers of the world. For the song and the sweetness in their voice has truly brought him back to that place of warmth and love.

Minerva is the goddess of handicrafts and arts, as well as war, in roman religion. Chino sees how powerfully eloquent a woman can be in the dawn of her maturity. It doesn't have to be an old women, just one who has truly developed herself in good ways.

For me it's all about art, and what it does to you and the emotions that blossom as a direct result of art. This website is a perfect example of how art/music moves hundreds of thousands of us to share our feelings with each other. The numbness is so strange because it is usually the second step after pain. The difference here is that beauty is what causes the numbness, which is enough to bring anyone to their knees in wonder.

A lot of people tell me Deftones is a horrible band, and they don't get why I love them. I myself, as an artist, can't understand why you wouldn't see anything beautiful at all in a song like this. It's peaceful, and it's lyrics definitely just fit in with the whole song. Most of my old friends just listened to screamo bands that all had lyrics to do with sex and drugs, and there really was no point to the songs, but Deftones makes pure ART. And yeah, art can be basically anything you want.... But I like this art better. :P This song seems to be about how everyone everywhere can be affected my music/art, feel peace and it's like a universal understanding. I just like how it all fits.... yeah.

I think it's def. all about the fans. How he feels about his fans and the way performing and making music makes him feel

I always sorta thought that there were many meanings to this song, but the most obvious to me is that it was about a woman that someone breaks up with many years before. Longing for their relationship to be back, they both are numb.

And yes, It's got many meanings, another one, is of course about the Deftones fans and the relationship between the fans and the band.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
