The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

This song is about a couple. The guy got his girlfriend pregnant and they feel that they have to get married. "And though our kids are blessed, the parents let them shoulder all the blame" The kids would be the reason why the couple got married in the first place. They're almost forced to get married. She's in the hospital, getting an abortion. So now they have to lie to both of their parents as to why they broke up. The relationship wasn't going well, so they had to end it. But because she got pregnant, they would be tied together. Which is why she had the abortion. When he sings "I lie for only you and I lie well", he's saying how now they have to lie to the parents.
My english teacher told my class the meaning today. There's no way I'd come up with this on my own.
