Can't you see my soul its on the record sleeve
It's going up for sale as soon as it gets saved
Interrogation blues, once again I lose

You don't get to magnify my insecurities
You don't get to site and save my unhip-ocracies
Not for sale

Take two placebos then you can call me lame
Walk some in my shoes then tell me to fuck off
My oversized hat won't fit your humongous head

I'll trade a hundred days for one inside of you

Take me to a cave, where I can't be seen
Solace makes the heart, pump adrenaline
I'm sick of being used, time and again betrayed

Give a man a key, he cannot not open the door
Give him something free and he'll sell it to the poor
C'est la vie

Take two placebos then you can call me lame
Walk some in my shoes then tell me that I'm fucked
My humongous hat won't fit your gigantic head

no use for a name, about the key thing. "give a man a key and he cannot not open the door" showing the curiosity of people, and us not being able to resist temptation. "give him something free and he'll sell it to the poor" If you do something for someone and be nice to them, all theyll do is use you and abuse your kindness.

i think you're right.. he likes it to be that "weird" person.. "you dont get to site and save my unhip-ocracies... not fot sale" it's nice, and more people should be proud at who they are, and not trying to be something better..

This song kicks ass, I did an essay on it for fucking school. I said some shit about this sounding like the band members being judged by the public.

"I’m sick of being used, time and again betrayed" About people who use them for there fame and money.

"I’ll trade a hundred days for one inside of you" Everyone thinks they have it so easy....but really they want to experience the feeling of being a young teenager again, no worries, no problems, just living day to day, as apposed to living by a schedule (perhaps a tour schedule)

-"You don’t get to magnify my insecurities You don’t get to site and save my unhip-ocracies Not for sale" This line shows how band members are completley exploited to AND by the public. For everything they do, wear, think or say. They don't want to be mimmic'd, followed, looked up to, or any of that shit. The end of that quote "Not for sale" I think that shows, "hey asshole, you can buy our cd's, shirts, stickers, hats, patches, socks, vinyl's...etc...But I'm not for sale, Im a fucking human being, you can't relate to me at all by wearing our merch, asshole"

"Give a man a key, he cannot not open the door, Give him something free and he’ll sell it to the poor" Shows the evil of man, the curiosity, the betrayal, the frail existance, the "pitiful degeneration of our generation" IF YOU WILL. the fucking bullshit titled "mankind"- MAN- yes, KIND- fuck no.

I dont know shit, but its a good fucking song/#@@

A harmless, unmedicated preparation given as medicine, as to humor a patient. It works out well with the song, huh.

I dunno...its appears to me that, on the contrary to what all of you are thinking, hes actually TRYING to sell himself to you for that sense of acceptance...

The dead giveaway is in the first line, of the first verse of this song... "Can't you see my soul, its on the RECORD sleeve/It's going up for sale as soon as it gets saved..."

What that line infers is that he may not be perfect, but he'd love to have that intangible feeling of appreciation...

"I'd trade a hundred days for one inside of you"

The sense that someone has it better than you...

Obviously a very hard to read lyric...

The desire for acceptance is neverending...even with the rockstars...

You guys are all idiots, go look up the nofx song called "kill rockstars" it's about Kathlene hanna of Bikini kill, then look up the Le tigre song "decepticon" that is a rebuttle from kathlene who is also formed Le Tigre, anyways that song is her trash talking fat mike, and then he released this song. You can jump to your own conclusions after that.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
