Joseph took his wife and her child and they went to Africa
To escape the rage of a deadly king
There along the banks of the Nile, Jesus listened to the song
That the captive children used to sing
They were singin'

My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by

Through a dry and thirsty land, water from the Kenyon heights
Pours itself out of Lake Sangra's broken heart
There in the Sahara winds Jesus heard the whole world cry
For the healing that would flow from His own scars
The world was singing

My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
He will never break His promise, He has written it upon the sky
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by

My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
I will never doubt His promise though I doubt my heart, I doubt my eyes
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by

My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
He will never break His promise though the stars should break faith with the sky
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by

My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming, my Deliverer is standing by

My Deliverer is coming

Please correct this entirely incorrect correct article conflating two entirely different songs. My Deliverer as written by Jason Walker Chad Robert Cates (CCLI#5215517) in 2008 has no relation to the song co-written by Rich Mullins and Rich McVicker over 10 years earlier (published in 1998, CCLI# 2598945). The lyrics provided are for the latter, the Mullins/McVicker song. The lyrics for the former song by Jason, et. al., are as follows:

    Intro

    My Deliverer Ba-da ba-da ba-da ba-da ba-da Ba-da ba-da

    My Deliverer Ba-da ba-da ba-da ba-da ba-da Ba-da ba-da

    Verse 1

I was so helpless Where did the light go I had no hope left Deep down in my soul

    Pre-Chorus

I was watching I was waiting I was praying I was staying down on my knees That's right where You found me

    Chorus 1

My Deliverer You rescued me From all that held me captive My Deliverer You set me free Now I'm alive and I can live So ev'ry moment I will give You praise My Deliverer Ooh my Deliverer

    Verse 2

'Cause there's no pretending I can't do it myself I'm so dependent Lord I need Your help

    Chorus 2

My Deliverer You rescued me From all that held me captive My Deliverer You set me free Now I'm alive and I can live And ev'ry moment I will give You praise

    Bridge

La la la la la I need You You know whatever I'm going through I'll be watching I'll be waiting I'll be praying I'll be staying down on my knees That's right where You'll find me My Deliverer My Deliverer

    Chorus 3

My Deliverer You rescued me From all that held me captive My Deliverer You set me free Now I can live My Deliverer I'm no longer captive My Deliverer You gave Your life that I mighty live So ev'ry moment I will give You praise Yeah my Deliverer

    Ending

I'm gonna give You praise I'm gonna give You praise My Deliverer

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
