The Wind Cries Mary Lyrics
yeah sorry the mp3 i downloaded wasn't that great of quality so i couldn't make out some of the words but if anyone knows the right words please correct them haha...again sorry
this is a cover just to let yall know...
a Jimi Hendrix cover...at that.
these are the right lyrics if anyone was wondering After all the jacks are in their boxes And the clowns have all gone to bed You can hear happiness staggering on down the street Footprints dressed in red And the wind whispers Mary
A broom is drearily sweeping Up the broken pieces of yesterday's life Somewhere a queen is weeping Somewhere a king has no wife And the wind cries Mary
The traffic lights turn blue tomorrow And shine the emptiness down on my bed The tiny island sags downstream 'Cause the life that they lived is dead And the wind screams Mary
Will the wind ever remember The names it has blown in the past With its crutch, its old age, and its wisdom It whispers, "No this will be the last" And the wind cries Mary
this is actually a really old jazz song, and a lot of people cover it--- john mayer has, and jamie cullum has it on his debut album
if by really old jazz song you mean by Hendrix in 1969, then yes, it is. Hendrix wrote it after a fight with his girlfriend. after recording fire there was sometime to kill on the studio session, so they wrote the music to go with lyrics that Hendrix already wrote. I think John Mayer does a great cover of this. the best line of the whole song is "A broom is drearily sweeping/Up the broken pieces of yesterday's life"
I might get lynched for this, but, I like the Mayer version better than the Hendrix version. Hendrix may have invented alot of the moder guitar licks and that Blue/Rock sound -- don't get me wrong the guy was a total genius -- but people like Stevie Ray Vaughan (RIP) and John Mayer have totally perfected the sound and made it much more listenable.
I know many artist record their music in Lo-Fi. Like John Frusciante, also a great fan of Hendrix'. Somewhere there's a thin line to the 'white noise' that's added to the music. Music must never ever sound clinical. And that is what newer versions by vaughan and mayer are. more clinical. less soul. am i close?

I'm not sure if I agree, but that's understandable. Hendrix was better in many ways, but Mayer and Vaughan have definitely built on and perfected other aspects. In this case I think I prefer Jimi, but overall I enjoy Mayer and Vaughan more.
