The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
Stretching, filing, against her skin
Blessed are those who are not kin
In sin we breathe, in sex, we tie
Duct tape her legs to the red sky
Foolsome flesh allowances
The pansies raided the pantry of
Gabardine dreams, promiscuous
Delight, deny not the flavor
Custard dreams
Abusing, musing
Marmalade flesh
Naked spread am I
Am I
Actors of the tragic phantom
Extend your legs for great Saturn
Brown table tops scream for cover
At the sight of your new lover
If today I die
And can't deny
The poison chosen for tonight
Tonight
Woo
Borrowed dreams, hollowed reveries
Metal pillows, pewter yellows
Furry roadkill, house on the hill
Pouring gravy on her thighs still
If today I die
And can't deny
The poison chosen for tonight
Tonight
Blessed are those who are not kin
In sin we breathe, in sex, we tie
Duct tape her legs to the red sky
Foolsome flesh allowances
The pansies raided the pantry of
Gabardine dreams, promiscuous
Delight, deny not the flavor
Custard dreams
Abusing, musing
Marmalade flesh
Naked spread am I
Am I
Actors of the tragic phantom
Extend your legs for great Saturn
Brown table tops scream for cover
At the sight of your new lover
If today I die
And can't deny
The poison chosen for tonight
Tonight
Woo
Borrowed dreams, hollowed reveries
Metal pillows, pewter yellows
Furry roadkill, house on the hill
Pouring gravy on her thighs still
If today I die
And can't deny
The poison chosen for tonight
Tonight

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Scratching, filing, Against her skin, Blessed are those, Who are not kin, (sex, blessed are those who do not induldge)
In sin we breathe, In sex we tie, Duct tape her legs, To the red sky, (more sex, he knows he is sinning)
Foolsome flesh allowances, The pansies raided the pantry of, Gabardine dreams, promiscuous, Delight, deny not the flavor, (he knows he should not indulge in sex, gabardine is a fabric, he dreams of sex, and cannot deny his temptations)
Custard dreams, Abusing, musing, Marmalade flesh, Naked spread am I, Am I (custard & marmalade are food/sweetness references. questioning his actions)
Actors of the tragic fanthom, Extend your legs for Great Saturn Brown table tops scream for cover, At the sight of your new lover (actors, this is unreal. YOUR NEW LOVER is the most important part. He is cheating.)
If today I die, And can't deny, The poison, Chosen for tonight Tonight, (inability to deny the sin he knows he is commiting)
Borrowed keys, Hollowed reveries, Metal pillows, Pewter yellows, Furry roadkill House on the hill, Pouring gravy, On her thighs still (borrowed keys support the cheating reference, reveries are daydreams, he feels empty. house on the hill also supports him cheating)
If today I die, And can't deny, The poison, Chosen for tonight, Tonight (again, his inability to deny indulging in his poison, sex)
This song is not about rape. The sex is intense, it is what he dreams of, this is what makes it his irresistable temptation. The entire lyrics from "Borrowed keys" to "on her thighs still" describes him cheating.

When I think of "metal pillows" I think of discomfort. "pewter yellow" is a common jewelry color. "furry roadkill" could be a rug. (they are all over the house) "house on the hill" he's at HER house.

My opinion is he's at his mistresses house. They are having sinful sex, either involving food, or as sweet as food. He's borrowed her keys to get in, her house is extremely nice (on a hill, with fur rugs and jewelry). He feels bad, even though he does what he wants.
However, now that I'm analyzing this song further I believe he is not the one cheating. He is at her house, while her husband is away. Hence, the borrowed key.

Still, his awareness is obvious.
ghettocild might be right but what does the part about dying have to do with it? IF TODAY I DIE, AND CAN'T DENY, THE POISON CHOSEN, FOR TONIGHT.
Whoever wrote these lyrics are so damn wrong, what the hell is wrong with yall? I mean yall are just stupid.
Clearly, you've never heard of the Dadaist movement, or Experimentalism. Why are you even here?
no, those lyrics are right
these are the lyrics off of the official site you moron shay gurl, some parts may be wrong but for the most part its right
hehehe....this song is about....hehehehehehehe
the lyrics are the official ones but in the song they dont include the whole a day cant be a total waste... the second verse starts at - actors of the tragic fanthom
I think I got it! I think this song is about lust and how some of our lives revolve around sex. Read the verses carfully and i think you might agree...but this song is tough one but i think i may be on track...someone help me out :S
"A DAY CAN'T BE TOTAL WASTE IF, I'M TOTALLY WASTED ALL DAY, PEOPLE HANG ON TO THE PICTURES, PE0PLE HANG ON TO THE BLANK WALLS,"
I don't think this is part of the song! I have listened to it mant times just to hear the above part... and it is not there! Also isn't it Marmalade? With an "A" not an "E"? Beides that, everyting is correct...
IF TODAY I DIE, AND CAN'T DENY, THE POISON CHOSEN, FOR TONIGHT.
this could mean that dying right after sex wouldnt be such a bad thing.
