I want to crawl inside your womb,
I want to watch the rose on your cheeks bloom.
I want to be the face in the moon,
And watch the stars spin around your room.

All your carefully worded letters,
And your carefully spoken words.
I will continue to evolve,
I will continue to revolve around your sun.

'Cause you are the only one!
Who understands who reaches out with both hands.
And even while your fading I'm just shivering and waiting.
I will continue to evolve,

I will continue to revolve around your sun.
'Cause you are the only one!
I want to drink deep from your well,
I want to be the heart for which you fell.

I want to be a shooting star,
Across the heavens to be where you are.

I want to crawl inside your womb,
I want to watch the rose on your cheeks bloom.
I will continue to evolve,
I will continue to revolve around your sun.

'Cause you are the only one!
Who understands who reaches out with both hands.
And even while your fading I'm just shivering and waiting.
Who understands who reaches out with both hands.

And even while your fading I'm just shivering and waiting.
I will continue to evolve,
I will continue to revolve around your sun.
'Cause you are the only one!

Time missing out.
You're missing out.
I'm missing out.
We're missing out.

You are the only one
Time missing out.
You're missing out.
I'm missing out.

We're missing out.
You are the only one.

Honestly, at first, it seems kinda gross. But if you read into it enough times, you can "hear" the real meaning behind it.

By the way, what is the real meaning behind it? lol, i have no idea. Some guy told me that it reminds him of me, and how he feels about me, and I don' t know wether to be flattered or totall grossed out and turned off. Thanks!

There is realy no secret behind it. It's an up-front love song. Think..."Cause you are the only one"...it shouldn't be too hard to understand. You should b flattered....it reminds me of my girlfriend so...;-)

honestly I don't know if the whole world finds it gross, but I find it sweet! of course without the "womb" part. Naturally it's a love song. it kind of describes a very strong feeling he has for this girl. the line "cause you are the only one, who understands who reaches out with both hands" is like saying how this girl can understand him so well. and the line of "even while you're fading i'm just shivering and waiting" is like hoping she never leaves him. Definitley my favorite line is: "I wanna be a shooting star across the heavens to be where you are" because is like needing these person so badly that you want to be wherever they are.

People need to stop thinking literally about this song.

Obviously the song is addressing a woman that he wants to be with. Much of the song deals with time being lost ("fading" and whatnot) but even as he may be emotionally losing her, he continues to show his love and is trying to tell her that he will continue to get better for her.

Overall it is a way of saying: "I love you, stay with me, we are only going to get better".

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
