Coming hard core looking like a gangster bitch,
Trying to front like you ain't rolling filthy rich
Laguna Hills you were born and raised.
But you're claiming South Central is where you spent your days.
Coming out hard talking crazy shit,
Knowing in your mind that you really don't fit.
Standing up straight with a gangster lean,
Talking gangster slang about what you seen.

Take a chance kid,
Take a chance.
Take a chance kid,
Don't fall down hard again.
Take a chance kid,
Take a chance.
Take a chance kid,
Don't fall down hard again.

You better think twice before you come at me
Right through your dome I can clearly see
Hey little dog, you gonna bark all day?
Cause toe to toe, in the ring, is where I play.
So you better step back and check yourself,
Stop fronting and just be yourself
Cause no one cares what set your claiming,
Till someone grabs their gun and starts their aiming at you!

Take a chance kid,
Take a chance.
Take a chance kid,
Don't fall down hard again.
Take a chance kid,
Take a chance.
Take a chance kid,
Don't fall down hard again

Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya got no clout
Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya got no clout
Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya got no clout

Take a chance kid,
Take a chance.
Take a chance kid,
Don't fall down hard again.
Take a chance kid,
Take a chance.
Take a chance kid,
Don't fall down hard again

Third verse:
Cause it ain't about how hard you are
Try using your brain and you will go far.
Be true to the color that you were born with
Not the color that you're adorned with,
So keep it real and always be true and be yourself in all that you do.
Stand up tall and get some respect
And always remember, keep yourself in check

Take a chance kid,
Take a chance.
Take a chance kid,
Don't fall down hard again.
Take a chance kid,
Take a chance.
Take a chance kid,
Don't fall down hard again

Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya got no clout
Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya got no clout
Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya
Tripping out cause ya got no clout

Take a chance kid,
Take a chance.
Take a chance kid,
Don't fall down hard again.
Take a chance kid,
Take a chance.
Take a chance kid,
Don't fall down hard again

That is a horrible concept. The song is about a poser pretending to be born and raised in "the hood" when he was really raised in the completely opposite side of the community.

It states that in the end, music is music, and it doesn't matter what category you belong to, as long as you come with good music and powerful, meaningful lyrics.

I have to agree with AkeJay. It's in plain view that it's about coming from a rich town like Laguna Beach and acking like you're from the hood. The thrid and fourth line's show it in plain english.

They kicked ass yesterday at the Portland Roseland. Great band live!

Great song. I think its about some one in like a gangster area or something and he's saying that if only you forget all this and just be urself then you can do anything good in life

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
