The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. “Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.

unfortunatley that is something that tends to happen every now and then between freinds. Hurt and betreyal come into play in situations like this. But in the end, 2 people are usually the one's that always get hurt.one being the friend betrayed and the other, the one that chose the girl. The best friends always end up getting hurt and sometimes things are not the same after that. One is hurt from the pain that one out the other threw and the other feels the guilt and repercutions of the choice they made. Forgiveness is what can help both to move on and try to mend the pain and hurt that was caused. Hopefully in the end most of the pain will go away, but sadley not all will dissapear, there will always be a little something left over in their heart.
