The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
(I'm about to break)
I cannot take this anymore
Saying everything I've said before
All these words, they make no sense
I found bliss in ignorance
Less I hear, the less you say
You'll find that out anyway
I find the answers aren't so clear
Wish I could find a way to disappear
All these thoughts, they make no sense
I found bliss in ignorance
Nothing seems to go away
Over and over again (over and over again, over and over again, over and over again, over and over again)
Just like before
Everything you say to me
And I'm about to break
I need a little room to breathe
And I'm about to break
Everything you say to me
And I'm about to break
I need a little room to breathe
And I'm about to break
These are the places where I can feel
Torn from my body, my flesh, it peels
During this ride, we can cut up what we like (I'm about to break)
Waiting alone, I cannot resist
Feeling this hate, I have never missed
Please, someone, give me a reason to rip off my face
Blood is a pouring and pouring and pouring and pouring and pouring and pouring
And pouring and pouring and pouring and pouring
Shut up when I'm talking to you, shut up
Blood is pouring (shut up)
Blood is pouring (shut up)
Blood is pouring, shut up when I'm talking to you (shut up)
Blood is pouring (shut up)
Blood is pouring (shut up)
Blood is pouring (shut up)
I'm about to break
Everything you say to me (and I'm about to break)
I need a little room to breathe (and I'm about to break)
Everything you say to me (and I'm about to break)
I need a little room to breathe (and I'm about to break)
Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge and I'm about to break
I need a little room to breathe
'Cause I'm one step closer to the edge and I'm about to break
Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge and I'm about to break

Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
I was able to pick up the Cd and I am kinda diggin' it.
This was my song when I got depressed and my best friend "didn't like my attitude" and stopped talking to me. But then again she's not a very good friend. But on with the meaning. If you've ever listened to this song and didn't get the impression of anger, then you had better listen to it again. This is about someone who feels trapped, smothered, and is SICK of it. "Everything you say to me puts me one step closer to the edge and I'm about to break! I need a little room to breathe 'cause I'm one step closer to the edge and I'm about to break!" Get it? But anyway- definate anger.
Ok seriously people the lyrics for the most amazing part of this song (jonathan davis) is:
These are the places where I can feelTorn from my body, my flesh it peels During this ride we can cut up what we like. Waiting alone I cannot resist, feeling this hate I have never missed, Please someone give me a reason to peel off my face.
It's from an official source and it makes more sense.
These are the places where I can feel, Torn from my body, my flesh it peels. During this ride we can cut up what we like. Waiting alone I cannot resist, Feeling this hate I have never missed. Please someone give me a reason to rip off my face. Blood is a pouring, and pouring (x10)

I love reanimation ^.^ good job on the lyrics.. sound right ta me. =)
This song is one of my favorites on the album. It's a darker version on the original. And by the way, I think Jonathan Davis says "It's pouring" instead of "It's boring" in the Shut Up part.... I think it would make a bit more sense..
yeah, your rite i think it is pouring, but it does sound like boring so...later
Alright..... I listened to the Jonathon Davis part.... pretty good except I'm pretty sure that instead of "Luring despite we concur...." is really "During despite we concur..." and the "Blood is a boring" is really "Blood is a pouring," the rest all really being "Boring"... Glad I could help with the lyrics....
during Jonathan Davis' part its not "During despite we concur how bright we are" at all (that doesnt even make sense) its "During this ride we can cut up what we like"
