I am broken. I am beaten
I am so close. To defeated
I am left, and you are right
And everything’s so out of sight
The world is moving with such speed
These intentions can mislead
I used to have it figured out
But I stand now covered in doubt

CHORUS
Give me some time to get this rhyme of life right
Give me some minutes that I can use but won’t abuse
I’m stuck right where I’m standing
And it’s so far from where I want to be
I want to stand somewhere where I don’t think I’ll have to flee
I wish I had some time to cogitate
Why does everyone say that I’m just afraid of fate?

That’s not it at all
I’m just a little but tangled
In my own tangle of a rhyme of life

So get me out, I need some help
I’ve been caught here for too long
Get me out. I need some help
In my time of weakness I’m forced to be strong

Just
CHORUS

They’re so wrong
I’m just a missing piece
Of an all too large jig saw puzzle
I just need some time to get this rhyme of life right

You can break me but you can’t take me
I know where I want to go I’ve just got to leave
But it’s so hard when in a house of cards
The weight is on my shoulders
And it’s so heavy
This burden weighs more then the other’s I’ve seen and had

There goes my pain, and the chains, that kept me down for too long
Watch them leave me, it seems so easy
When looking back

This feeling is without meaning
It’s made me stop my life for way to long
Give me some time to get this rhyme of life right

CHORUS

I don’t believe in fate
I don’t think it’s true
I don’t think I was destine to meet you
I don’t believe in fate
Though not now, I have control of my life
And I just need some time to get this rhyme of life right

They aren't seeing eye to eye and he needs time to think it through...decides he has to leave the relationship because it's just not right. Sorta? I dunno there's more detail in there but I'm too tired. Good lyrics though....cogitate....ha....that was odd to see because it's a "big word" and people don't use it in lyrics. But it's different....and I like different

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
