"The Tide Is High" as written by John Kenneth Holt, Howard Anthony Barrett, Tyrone Evans, Jeremy Peter Godfrey and Bill Padley....
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
I'm not the kinda girl who gives up just like that oh no
It's not the things you do, that tease and hurt me bad
But it's the way you do the things, you do to me
I'm not the kinda girl who gives up just like that oh no
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
Number one, number one
Every girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear 'till it's my turn

I'm not the kinda girl who gives up just like that oh no
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
Number one, number one
Every girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear 'till it's my turn
I'm not the kinda girl who gives up just like that oh no
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
I'm gonna be your number one, your, number one

General CommentI think a band called the Paragons originally made this song, but Blondie made it more famous. AFAIK Billie did her version in 2000, a good two or three years before AK but her version can't have been as well known. I think the meaning's pretty obvious lol, but I also think you'll find that the lyric is 'real tight ditty' (as in song) not 'diddy' (which makes me picture P.Diddy) :P And I think 'hugh' is just a noise like 'yeah'. Can't imagine that Hugh is a name someone would use in a pop song! Does anyone know who does the rap in the song?
