The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
i have scars on my body
from using myself
abusing myself
in sickness and in health
i have bruises on my body
which go away with time but remain in my mind forever
as a constant reminder of the last man i loved
loathed
left
i have the word 'truth' on my arm
because there is no room for honesty when you're a liar
i have a tattoo on the back of my neck which i cannot see
but i can feel
but i can feel
but i can
i have a tattoo on my stomach which in italian means 'the sweet life'
i have the word 'love' in flames surrounded by stars on my right wrist
because these five fingers go straight into the soul of man
i have the word 'hate' on my left wrist because the left hand is the hand of hate
and it was with this hand that cain knifed his brother
i'm right handed
maybe that's my problem
my ruin
from using myself
abusing myself
in sickness and in health
i have bruises on my body
which go away with time but remain in my mind forever
as a constant reminder of the last man i loved
loathed
left
i have the word 'truth' on my arm
because there is no room for honesty when you're a liar
i have a tattoo on the back of my neck which i cannot see
but i can feel
but i can feel
but i can
i have a tattoo on my stomach which in italian means 'the sweet life'
i have the word 'love' in flames surrounded by stars on my right wrist
because these five fingers go straight into the soul of man
i have the word 'hate' on my left wrist because the left hand is the hand of hate
and it was with this hand that cain knifed his brother
i'm right handed
maybe that's my problem
my ruin

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
i think this could be about tairries self-abuse problem ...
funky song - lol
its about of all tairrie's tattoos and what the meanings behind all of them are.
ive never heard this song and ive never heard of the band i was just lokkin at the lastest comment thing, but this song is about all the marks he has put on his bady and some were worth it ands some were not worth it
erm....its a she
I actully dont think this song is about a self abuse problem but the explaintion of her tatoos? well whatever the meanin its a great song!
it's partly about her tattos but i think it's clear that it is also about self-abuse "using myself, abusing myself"
"i have bruises on my body which go away with time but remain in my mind forever as a constant reminder of the last man i loved loathed left" i think those lines might be a reference to a physically abusive relationship.
I also think its about a self-mutilation problem.. and maybe.. about someone beating her and shit..?
