Live – The Dolphin's Cry Lyrics 1 year ago
I've always thought this song was about norse or other ancient mythology. A male immortal talking to a Goddess such as Freya, who cried tears of gold searching for her lost husband. The imagery of the Phoenix and peace that comes over like a swoon. Love never dies.

Dio – The Last In Line Lyrics 2 years ago
To me this song is about a child becoming a young adult and a soldier and what its like coping in the aftermath of do or die situations. War is the "witch" Dio is referring to, and this aspect implies the quest to become an asset on the battlefield being similar to following the yellow brick road like in Oz. Coming home is all you think about subconsciously the whole time while you are in combat. Then when you get home you figure out who you have become or how you were changed by that experience. "We'll know for the first time..." Is about how the situation tests ones own perception of self. And how others judge you if you make it home. Some view war vets as evil, some view them as devine. "See how we shine" is about the pride a warrior carries to the grave.

Simon and Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence Lyrics 8 years ago
I think it can be perceived from a perspective of a musical genious who was born deaf. To me It's a poetic dialogue about how it would be for such a person to never fully understand the power of the noise made by themselves and other musicians. Maybe the darkness being an old friend could mean they are blind as well.
