Thousand Foot Krutch – Forward Motion Lyrics 9 years ago
@[aelrah:3012] Because the phrase 'forward motion' has only ever been used by Relient K.

The lyric "your reckless, your reckless life" should be "your reckless, your reckless love"

Also, the line, "I see it now, no less than light" should be "no lesson learned"

Red – Of These Chains Lyrics 9 years ago
"Every piece of you I saved" -you missed the 'you' there.

What at first sounded like a love song, is beginning to sound to me, upon more listens, like he's singing about and to the "mask" he mentions. He's afraid of leaving his cage where he is locked with his pretend self; afraid to go back to being real
"of who I was before", might be referring to who he was before he made the mask.
"I never asked to be the one to set me free" he has to make the choice to change; no one can make him do what he doesn't will himself.
In the same way, this could be about addition or sins. In fact, that's more likely of the two, given the themes of some of the other songs.
Just my thoughts; I'd like to see other opinions/answers because it's a beautiful song and I'd like to know about it.

Red – Gravity Lies Lyrics 9 years ago
Is it horrible this reminds me of my dad?
Especially the line, "the villain plays the victim so well" because it's what he does with everyone in his life. Abuses, then blames.
It sounds like the song is about self-hatred/wrath/abusive depression, but the songs on this album are harder for me to figure out than the previous four.

Skillet – Freakshow Lyrics 10 years ago
Here's the intro (included with the lyrics with the cd)
"Step right up! Ladies and gentlemen!
Come and see things your eyes won't believe!
Some say they're 'aliens'! Some say they are 'strangers'! Some say they're 'not of this world'!
We will not conform to the masses whether they scorn or whether they attack us!
Come one, come all! Welcome to the freak show!"

"Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul." 1 Peter 2:11
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2
This song has some similarities with one of their older songs, 'Alien Youth':
"It's been confirmed that the aliens have landed... come all the freaks, let's go!"

It ties in nicely with songs like 'My Religion' and 'Sick of It' by denying the false perfection of (Sadly) much of the church culture today.

I think this whole album's message is that the 'freaks' the regular, fakey church people don't like are just as loved by Jesus and that they don't need rules and rituals to call him their Savior. We’re wounded, we’re tired of it all, we need the comfort of friends in this mess, we need someone to hold onto to live, the world is sick and loud, it makes us feel crazy. Is God there? He's the salvation we burn for. He’s there when we walk away. He’s all we need, He’s what we believe in.
It boils down to finding who you are in God because if you're following Him, who cares what anyone else thinks?

Stellar Kart – Jesus Loves You Lyrics 12 years ago
This song makes me cry. I know I'm not the only one who relates to this.

Now to ruin this happy moment with perfectism:
I'm pretty sure the line in the second verse goes, "to prove to you a *faith* that lives inside"
The bridge seems to be lined a bit weird. I'm thinking it would make more sense read as:

"I can't explain, I can't deny
So many times for you I've cried
And to see you on your knees tonight"

And not to be one of those people but in the last chorus, it should be, "to know that *your* forever has been changed,"

I'm thinking hiding behind a "digital mask" refers to an online avatar, possibly. People often pretend to be someone they're not (mentioned line four) by taking advantage of online anonymity.
