I love this song! Its so fucking hot, Justin's soft and emotional voice blends it nicely with Jay-Z's blunt and honest hard-core voice. It's just awesome.
I think this song is about fame and how the love and hate relationship they Justin T and Jay have with it. Both of them being in the industry for a while and then quitting for a while and then coming back. It's like being famous and the making music is something they love and are into but at the same time, they hate the bad stuff that come with it. What's great about this song is that it also fits well with love and relationship. Maybe a guy in love with a girl that is playing games. This also goes well with religion, like Christianity. Like how god is always with you and you depend on him, but then life also gets in the way... |

Omg how is it that no one has commented on this song yet? It's fucking amazing, my sister just had to play it for a couple of seconds and I instantly fell in love with it. I must have heard over 1000 times already and it hasn't even been a week. It's really good, very powerful lyrics, catchy beat and everything. It's just awesome, definitely my favorite from Vulnerable.

I really disliked this song at first, and I love Maroon 5 and Mick Jagger, but the moves like jagger was annoying and so was Christina Agulera. But after hearing it so much in parties and stuff, it grew to me, particularly the hook, where hes like "i don't need to try to control you, just look into my eyes and I'll show you." awesome! It's really addicting and apart from the repetitive and slightly annoying "moves like jagger," the beat is awesome! I now listen to it a lot, I just stop as soon as Christina's part comes on. lol |

Good point, I think it can be both however you wanna see it. I like to think of it as him breaking up with her and he regrets it, just because I'm a masochist and it makes the song more depressing. Either way anyone can relate to it really, I don't have a bf and neither have I dumped one and regretted it, but I relate to it in the sense that I have had that lonely feeling where I miss someone so much.

This song hits the spot. I'm 22 years old and though I'm healthy and my family too, nothing ever goes right for me--like personally. With friends, guys, work, money, school....it's pathetic and depressive but when i listen to this song, I, too actually feel hope. It's like Morrissey is my other half--my best friend, my spirit. It's corny but there is a special connection I feel when I hear this song.
And the amazing thing is that it's without a doubt the kind of song that everyone relates too...look at all the covers and fans....and that fact alone, makes me feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who feels this way at times.... |

The kind of behavior that the place she lives in isn't used to. Another more realistic idea could be that Mary was a crazy girl, into drugs and casual sex, and was lost until she finally turns into religion and is saved. |

I think this song is about a guy and a girl who have been in a relationship for a long time and the honeymoon period is pretty much over. You know, there no longer flirting constantly and kissing and smiling at each other, they're just so comfortable with each other, doing the same things over and over, and they're just there. Maybe the guy is even getting bored since their spark is fading, but he does still love her. |

Such a beautiful song, it has the same intensity and vulnerability as With Me, I think. I agree with the other user,it's about him breaking up with his girlfriend. They love each other, and seem to be happy together once in the pst, but things are changing, maybe they argue alot or ignore each other, and he's telling her that they have to break up.
My favorite part is from the chorus when he's like "How could you be the better part of me
when we're only half of what we used to be?" Wow, that is just so deep and true to many relationships. Shit, Deryek seriously has a way with words, he makes dumping someone, seem beautiful.

This song is beautiful and yet so simple. I didn't really get the fuss about Bob Marley, yeah I get it Three Little Birds, Redemption Song and No Woman Cry are good and famous, but for me he wasn't nothing special. That is UNTIL I heard this song one night. It was in my ipod for some reason and it played at random...I ended up listening to it again and again until I feel asleep. It was so relaxing, so chill, so sweet--the beat, the sound, his amazing voice. Wow, now I understand how so many people are fans of his, he's completely different.
I'm seriously going to check out some more songs by him and the Wailers...I never felt what I felt while listening to a song before. |

I agree with lyriclistner....it's like a couple that isn't exactly going great--like someone is hiding something from the other, or they're lying to each other but they still love each other, they just need to open up. When Revenge of the Seth came out in 2005, I made a tribute video to the relationship with Padme and Anakin--I'm not sure if there are any star wars fans here--but ever since then, I still identify that song to the kind of relationship that they both ended up having....with Anakin loving her so much but is totally distant and leaving her feeling empty...*sigh*

AWESOME! At first I wasn't too fond of the song, but after listening to the album over and over in order, I fell in love with it. It's great, catchy and has a great meaning.
And on that note, I relate soo much to what she is saying. Speaking as a black Latina girl, it's expected for girls to have long, strait hair rather than kinky and curly and ever since I cut my permed hair off, and left it short and wild, my parents and family have been on my case. Whenever I listen to this song, it brings tears to my eyes because it's exactly how I feel. :) I love singing to this while dancing with my hair all wild and in tight curls! |
