The thing I love most about Tool is that their songs are incredibly rich with metaphors, and that some lines of their songs aren't meant to be taken literally, and others are, so you're never quite sure when you should take them literally and when you shouldn't, so for me it's fun trying to figure out their songs; it's like a puzzle or something. |

@Metallica319: "Mihi" is the traditional spelling, yes, but the alternate spelling is in fact "michi."
Other then that, the only other misspelling I could find was "statue," the correct spelling of which I believe is "statu."
To prevent any future confusion as to the language that this song is sung in, the song is sung in Latin, specifically Ecclesiastical Latin, or "Church Latin," (the difference between this form and the other forms of Latin is the pronunciation, and this form of Latin was and still is used during Catholic Mass).
Anyway, as for the meaning of the poem, I personally think it's pretty self-explanitory (provided you read the English lyrics). I would explain it, and I understand what the poem is talking about, but I'm not quite sure how to explain it.

I just want to clear a couple things up before people start asking. First, when he says, "... cheap panther piss," he means cheap wine or cheap beer; he's comparing cheap wine/beer to panther piss, but why panther (emphasis on "panther") piss, I have no clue. Secondly, Gucci is a fashion and leather goods label owned by some French company and founded by Guccio Gucci in 1921, and the only reason I know this is because because my sister is a fashionista (or thinks she is anyway) and is always talking about that kind of stuff. |

This is how I interpret this song:
I think this song is about the direction that America (remember, this is my interpretation) is heading in. You can all deny the truth and say, "Oh that's nonsense," or whatever bullsh*t you want to tell yourselves, but one day, hopefully one day really soon, you're gonna have to open your f***ing eyes and realise (did not mean to rhyme there) that the air and everything is becoming more and more polluted each day and will one day end up toxic. Also, humans are paving over "[homes] on the [ranges]," meaning that rural areas are becoming paved over for un-necassary things like shopping malls and sh*t, and we're killing animals in slaughter houses just for f***ing meat. Another thing, about the war. It wasn't a mistake. We, I mean, Bush, didn't mistakenly send our troops to the middle east. he made a poor decision, and there's actually a difference between the two. One more thing: OPEN YOUR F***ING EYES PEOPLE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! YOU CAN'T JUST PRETEND ALL THE PROBLEMS GOING ON AREN'T, BECAUSE THAT WON'T MAKE THEM GO AWAY, IT'LL ONLY MAKE THEM GET WORSE AND WORSE UNTIL THEY'RE TOO WORSE TO BE DEALT WITH! I'm sorry for yelling and my foul language but I strongly believe in my opinions, key word "opinions." |

I saw these guys live at Cricket Ampitheatre in Chula Vista, California last summer, and ya know how some bands sound great recorded but when u hear 'em live they're all pitchy and not that good? well, Incubus is one of those bands who sounds pitch-perfect recorded and pitch-perfect live. anyway, Anna Molly is one of the best songs I've heard live, and Incubus is one of the best bands I've heard live, right next to Styx, Def Leppard, Rancid, and Rise Against. |

These guys r so f***ing epic live. I saw them a couple weeks ago at Cricket Ampitheatre (the previous day I saw Incubus live there). I dont agree with just one person; personally think this song has multiple meanings. I think that Rise Against's lyrics are written in a way that allows people to have their own interpretation(s) of their songs. |

I like Papa Roach's songs, especially his newer stuff. I think this song's meaning is kinda obvious: it's about a person (doesn't matter who; not necessarily Papa Roach), who just wants to be loved; who wants to have someone who loves him/her as much as he/she does them; a person who will hold their hand, stay by their side not matter what... sorry, I just can connect to this song on so many levels, it's actually kinda sad when you think about it. |
