Chamillionaire – Ridin' Lyrics | 18 years ago |
does anyone notice how awesome the song gets when krayzie begins rapping but with melody? The whole song changes from the typical talk-rap to melodic rap that sounds so much better than normal rap. |
The Cranberries – Ode To My Family Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I thought the meaning of this song was very different from what was already posted. I think it's about how she's grown up and gone out into the world to see that it was quite different to the one she knew as a kid. She learned it wasn't the happy and fun life she had as a little kid. However, when she was out in the world she remembered and still felt the love her mother and father had for her but nobody cared in the real world. Now, shes come back as someone weathered by the world and her family might have a hard time realizing what shes become. I think the songs a great description of a caring childhood but contrasted against a very tough and careless world that can change even the very person youve become. Then you realize youve become one of those people and your parents dont know you as the little kid they used to hold. Quite a sad song about loneliness even in the eyes of family. |

The Mile After – The Only One Lyrics | 18 years ago |
actually, scratch that... Cartel + The Mile After + The Starting Line would be an amazing tour line up |
The Mile After – The Only One Lyrics | 18 years ago |
These guys need to tour out of NC. They would have such a good response with the right tourmates...brand new. |
The Mile After – Every Town is Jamestown Lyrics | 18 years ago |
word, I hope this is on the full length. |
The Mile After – Dear Page Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Whoever "Page" is...damn. He really slams her in this but the song soungs really good. He tells her to think about him and their status when he ultimately was "glad we fell apart." Great song about dealing with a girl and realizing how it's not worth it at all. |
The Mile After – Let It Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
These guys are my favorite band. Really solid sound. Their full length is gonna be rediculous. I bet they get popular fast, for good reason too. |
UB40 – Rat In Mi Kitchen Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Joking aside, UB40 is really one of a kind. Their live sound is incredible. I like how he relates a guy talking shit to a rat being in his kitchen and how he's gonna "fix" him. Clever way to write relatively threatening lyrics to an upbeat song. |
The Track Record – Winter's Run Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song seems to be about the coming of winter but more specifically about the authors feelings that come along with it. It's relating how he thinks the cold season will come with the same feeling (hopefully with the same results) of a girl. Like wishing for the same things to happen. |
Beastie Boys – Rhymin' and Stealin' Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Well considering the drum track in that Led Zepplin song is REALLY basic, I'm sure you can find tons of songs that have that same beat whether the artists knew it or not. Led Zepplin was not exactly a pioneer for producing unique drum tracks. Thats like saying people steal when millions of songs have the same chord progressions. It probably speaks to the Beastie Boys' versatility more than anything. |
(+44) – No It Isn't Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Plus 44 is the international dialing code for the United Kingdom. That makes it a creepy reference to Europe...possibly has to do with the trouble Blink had on their last tour which was in the UK. |
Blink-182 – Ben Wah Balls Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Taken at face value this song is a joke but if you listen to the melody its actually quite good. I think you begin to see Blink developing their melody making skill that would eventually send them mainstream and to become one of the most popular bands of their generation. Kinda cool to see a band of this stature begin in songs that are secretly very catchy and well written melodies...like this one. |
U2 – Where The Streets Have No Name Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm definately not a U2 fan but I had to say that the instrumental intro that this song has is one of the most amazing sounds I've ever heard. It's almost undescribeable and I haven't heard any band come close to something so incredible as U2 did here for the first 1:46 of this song. |
Senses Fail – Institutionalized (Suicidal Tendencies cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree with the last post. This song is pretty terrible. Sounds like a stream of consiousness that is way too screamo for my tastes. Their last album was AMAZING though!! |
Fleetwood Mac – Never Going Back Again Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah I agree, this song has it all. Very technical guitar picking, good lyrics, and the vocals harmonize well with the guitar track. Very simple and an example of a well constructed song. |
Sum 41 – Slipping Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I believe this song speaks to the feeling of disillusion that is pretty common in rock stars. They were regular people but now have become celebrities that are so different from everything they knew and, as a result, feel out of touch. Sum 41 is a classic example of a band that has been exploited by fame. You can see the toll it has taken over the years on the members in songs like this and they're almost depressed demeaner they have now in interviews and public appearances. |
(+44) – No It Isn't Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is undoubtedly about Tom and the shit that went down in Europe on Blinks final tour that caused them to break up. The song mentions ignoring 1000 faces which means all the fans that they just left out to dry without a reason or anything cuz Tom left. Mark has come out and said he didnt like Box Car Racer leaving him out but he kept his mouth closed cuz he knew Blink was worth taking that hit for. Tom was known to not like all the fame, attention, and lack of privacy he was getting. I think on the last tour he was also getting bored with blink which is the whole searching in foreign dressing rooms line. Everything went to hell on that tour they had in Europe and consequently Blink was destroyed and Mark and Travis have not spoken to Tom since they went on Hiatus. This is the song about it. Pretty sad stuff. |
Blink-182 – Mutt Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I read in an interview that this song was inspired by a guy Tom lived with, Benji Weatherly. They were roommates and the now-pro surfer is known to be a total womanizer. This is probably from roommate Tom's point of view as he can see the relationships Benji has with chicks. |
The Starting Line – Inspired By The $ Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I actually think the song is about the trouble the Starting Line had with the label they were on. (They also, during the last warped tour, asked to be released from it). Kenny relates touring to a caged animal thats only freed to perform. Its only inspiration being $. The label/people at the top are telling them to "just do it like you did it before" and to "just stay the same shape" because they were so successful before. They think there is no need for change when really the band wants to and will inevitably change. The label is holding them back and decaying all the progress they made. Thus he says he has his doubts as to what that kind of life this band really has. |
Hootie & the Blowfish – Goodbye Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Jesus Christ! This is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. I think the meaning/story behind it is just the age old feeling of losing a girl. I think he sees it coming and can't do anything about it and is trying to deal with it. |
