The Pagan Babies – Quiet Room Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think the correct lyrics are actually: Quiet Room Transcription Enter the quiet room There is the bed you love Don't you hide Your zombie eyes of isolation Attacked me but you need me too My father That's the name that she loves In this body I hate this body Hell is all we have here Into the quiet room There is the bed you love Time to undress me really hard And chain my desires Oh, you come to me And all you bring me is sorrow You take my life and take away This me Til tomorrow |
The White Stripes – It's My Fault for Being Famous Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think you all need to stop taking this song so seriously and remember Jack has a good sense of humour. |
The Kills – Heart Is A Beating Drum Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song is amazing live. I don't think it's too deep in terms of meaning, most likely about people who need to slow down. |
The Kills – Half Of Us Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think this song might be confessional? Like the 'half of us' is literally them as two halves, and their experiences... and the differences in where they come from (heartbreaking sounds of your town, etc). The bits about happy accidents and referring to 'after they've gone' (i.e, when they're not in public) how they might be different to the personas they have... |
The Kills – Wild Charms Lyrics | 13 years ago |
A Kate song perhaps? Can't get enough of this. |
The Duke Spirit – Lion Rip Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think its 'but you're alive inside with this light, and it tastes like a myth' |
The Dead Weather – Gasoline Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I always just thought it was about rough sex >< 'To be afraid is a luxury' 'To be soft is too easy, so don't get soft on me.' The rest of the lyrics are quite sexual too, i.e 'All I want is a machine', 'when you're so close to me I can smell the gasoline.' It's always just struck me as being about that. Perhaps I am being too simple here, I don't know, but that's how it sounds. |
The Dead Weather – 60 Feet Tall Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Seems to be from the point of view of the person Alison is talking about in 'Hang You From The Heavens.' They're in a destructive relationship, abuser and victim, but in a way they both seem to like and feel excited in their postions. |
The Kills – No Wow Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think the term 'no wow' can be applied to broader things than just a relationship. Alison said in an interview a few years ago that this song was about how the majority of art created these days, whether that be music or literature, doesn't have that element of 'wow' to it.. it can be applied to anything where the magic is completely lost. |
The Kills – Fried My Little Brains Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I agree with the electric chair theory, but I also think this song might be about thinking too much... from childhood, hence the milk teeth, going over these things in your head, and 'only got ten minutes better get me good' taking about how destructive this pattern of thinking can be. Then 'fried my little brains' talks about how destructive the whole process can be and how you just can't think anymore. |
The Kills – I Hate The Way You Love Lyrics | 14 years ago |
A few years since my comment on this song, I now think its about bad sex. 'I can't get full,' 'you bored me then and now you just bore me some more,' etc. And with 'my words fell into the road' etc I think Alison is saying that she knows she wants to tell this person how awful they are and what she wants to say but can't bring herself to do it maybe? 'My eyes feel spikey and small and I can't get no picture on them at all' - she's finding it hard to think about other things during. Dunno, I was just listening to it one day and this interpretation seemed to make sense :) |
The Subways – I Lost You To The City (demo) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I guess this song is about the person you're with getting involved with some kind of scene (possibly with drugs) and deciding they're too good for you now and concentrating on what they've found instead. I guess I think this because scenes/drug scenes tend to happen more in the city than anywhere. |
Sonic Youth – Nic Fit (Untouchables cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Is it weird that I find this song terrifying?O_o |
Giant Drag – Everything's Worse Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it's "your face is just a blur blending in with the night" Anyway, beautiful song, beautiful lyrics |
Queen Adreena – Under A Floorboard World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
No comments? This is one of the best in my opinion! May not be as deep as the other stuff, but its definitely good to stick on when you're angry. The meaning is fairly obvious. |
The Subways – We Get Around Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Despite the fact in my version, Charlotte's voice sounds awful - this is a good song. |
The Subways – A Plain Above Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Billy isn't on drugs. This song is beautiful. I notice that most of the Subways songs seem to be about time. Maybe this is another one. |
The White Stripes – Do Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is such a beautiful song, I love the emotion in Jack's voice. Its kinda morbid lyrically... I think its about paranoia and anxiety and not knowing how to talk to people and being scared of the world. |
The White Stripes – Little Ghost Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Err I think this song is about pretending you're in a relationship with someone you're not really with. Thats what it means to me, anyway... |
The White Stripes – Forever For Her (Is Over For Me) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is about really wanting to shag someone, and them either not wanting the same thing or not being ready. Its a very pretty song though :) |
The White Stripes – In the Cold, Cold Night Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love Meg's voice. She actually sounds a little like Kim Deal, IMO. Only a little, though. |
The White Stripes – I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Everytime I hear this song the emotion of it hits me like nothing else... |
The Von Bondies – The Fever Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Thats an interesting interpretation. ^_^ But I always thought this song was about some kind of love/hate relationship... i.e. "you piss me off like nothing else but dont ever leave me", sort of. And its a typical, common problem in relationships, and in this song its being referred to as "The Fever". |
The Von Bondies – Mairead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song makes me laugh. Is it really about Mairead Nash? >< dear god... |
The Von Bondies – Crawl Through Darkness Lyrics | 19 years ago |
What does this song mean??? I love the lyrics, but I have absolutely no idea what they're based around!! |
The White Stripes – As Ugly As I Seem Lyrics | 19 years ago |
*agress with kitkat9* |
The White Stripes – Red Rain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Amazing lyrics, I think its the only song on the album other than "I May Be Lonely" that I loved straight away. |
The Duke Spirit – Hello to the Floor Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Is this about an alcoholic? |
The Zutons – You Will You Won't Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The chavs at my school have taken to singing this all through German cos it winds up my teacher hehe. |
The Zutons – You Will You Won't Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The chavs at my school have taken to singing this all through German cos it winds up my teacher hehe. |
The Zutons – Dirty Dancehall Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song makes me think of dark streets full of junkies and prostitutes o_O lmao. But its very good, very catchy, something very creepy about it though. And the parts after the chorus where Dave goes "ooh!" just make me laugh... |
The Zutons – Don't Ever Think (Too Much) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Well in the NME I think Dave said something about it being about a guy who was about to jump of a cliff but then didnt cos he realised he had been thinking and worrying too much about everything. or something to that extent. |
The Zutons – Moons and Horror Shows Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Is that Abi singing in the background on this track? If it is she should sing more =) Yeah, I agree, amazing song. I think its about someone trying to be positive, to not worry about things until they happen. hey, that didnt make sense |
Pixies – Gigantic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Kim has a very strange voice... |
Pixies – Tame Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Agreeing with xreflux here, but I think the lyrics do kind of point to rape in ways... from the point of view of the rapist anyway. "must be having a good shame", "talking sweet about nothing", "making good friends with you", the word "cookie"... just the whole sick thing. Just my view, I'm probably wrong. And I think the yelling and the breathing kind of proves the point further. |
Pixies – Break My Body Lyrics | 19 years ago |
BDSM. woah yeah |
The Breeders – I Just Wanna Get Along Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, I thought it was about Kim and Frank Black as well... I love the line "if you're so special then why arent you dead?" One of my favourite lyrics ever, no exaggeration |
The White Stripes – Little Ghost Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Wow. Really deep lyrics. |
The White Stripes – White Moon Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Woo first commentor!!! At first I thought this song was about an anorexic who constantly compared herself to Rita Hayworth, the old filmstar that Jack is kind of obsessed with. I have many reasons for why I thought this but I cant be fucked to go into them all. But I dont think that anymore, I dont know what it could be about... |
The White Stripes – As Ugly As I Seem Lyrics | 19 years ago |
No, I think its beautiful. Every song on GBMS is beautiful. As for what this song is about I have no idea, but I like these lines: "There is a drop of blood on the ground/And it seems to me that it's not my kind/And I can't be sure if it's yours or mine" |
The White Stripes – Blue Orchid Lyrics | 19 years ago |
First off, Jack has the sexiest fucking voice I have ever heard. And yes, I do think this song is about Jason Stollsteimer; it has a very bitter and angsty feel to it. Its these lines: "You got a reaction, you got a reaction didnt you?" Jason was bad mouthing Jack in the press, which led up to the whole incident in 2003... that was the reaction. "We all need to do something to keep the truth from showing up" Jack accusing the Von Bondies of covering up the truth and lying for Jason, perhaps? And perhaps the "white orchid" is a reference to Detroit and how the feud has kind of pulled the music scene apart, i.e. "you turned it blue" "How dare you? How old are you now anyway?" Self explanatory... "Get behind me, get behind me now anyway" This is Jack's way of saying "stop trying to make out you're better than me", I think. And perhaps to how Jason's been playing the victim this whole time, which sorry, but from what I've read in my opinion he has. Not that I know or anything, its just what I think :) "You were given a flower but I guess there's just no pleasing you" About how Jack kind of helped the Von Bondies out, musically more than anything, that he wanted to give them a chance. That was the flower. And how Jason was always on about how the producing on Lack of Communication (brilliant album) was shit... "I guess there's just no pleasing you". Dunno what the rest of this verse means, though. Yeah, I dunno how accurate I am, it's just my analysis. Shit, I really have to get a life... |
The Duke Spirit – Red Weather Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song always sends a shiver down my spine... |
The Duke Spirit – Lion Rip Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great song, although I have to admit I didnt like it at first. Cant work out what its about either. |
The White Stripes – I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Ooh. Nice lyrics! err, no idea what they could mean though. Perhaps "I'm on my own but I'll stick it out. It can only get better." dunno, maybe about trying to be optimistic in a bad situation? Ignore me, I'm shit at this kinda thing. |
The White Stripes – Why Can't You Be Nicer To Me? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I thought it was about suicide as well. its pretty bouncy melody-wise, but there's something really dark about it |
The White Stripes – Passive Manipulation Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Meg's voice is beautiful. anyway, is it me or does this song refer to incest in a major way? lmao > |
The White Stripes – Passive Manipulation Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Meg's voice is beautiful. anyway, is it me or does this song refer to incest in a major way? lmao > |
Pixies – La La Love You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
He does? Wow, I have a lot to learn... |
Pixies – Wave of Mutilation Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Definitely relates to suicide or self destruction in some way... sad song :( |
Pixies – Here Comes Your Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I always thought this song was about being nervous on a first date. Lmao. I'm such an idiot. Great song though, and the weirdest damn video ever... |
