John K. Samson – Virtute at Rest Lyrics | 7 years ago |
From the perspective of Virtute the cat, resurrected in the brain of her recovering human companion. |
The Weakerthans – Virtute the Cat Explains Her Departure Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Wow, another great cat song. I agree that "Sound that you found for me" is the cat's name (which the cat quite doesn't understand). However, anyone wonder what happened to the owner? |
Dropkick Murphys – The Fighting 69th Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Fascinating story, here is a bit about their leader: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Corcoran |
Alkaline Trio – Fine Without You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Fascinating song. From reading the notes in the latest Alk album "Remains" apparently the song is about talking yourself down. Pretty clever. |
Iron Maiden – Paschendale Lyrics | 18 years ago |
For British military history: Battle of the Somne was a Tragedy. Battle of Passchendaele was a crime. What the songs portrays VERY well is the futility of trench warfare. "Whistle blows" and the short work "burst of fire" makes of another futile charge. Furthermore, Freeman quotes numbers that lack any emotional impact. This Iron Maiden song remedies that. |
The Lawrence Arms – Asa Phelps Is Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Awesome reference to the Depression era song "Brother Can you Spare a Dime?" |

The Lawrence Arms – Another Boring Story Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah it is him singing "cleaner." If you got any doubts though, pickup the latest CD "Cocktail's and Dreams" and in the liner notes he admits to singing that way. |
The Weakerthans – Plea from a Cat Named Virtute Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Which raises the interesting question, does the owner actually listen to his cat and 'get over it' ? |
Weezer – The Damage in Your Heart Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It sounds a lot like he recognizes the pain that is already there. However, it is the chorus that gets me. He is pointing out to himself and through that, to us to let go of the hurt/pain (it is almost as if he is pleading with himself to just let go of the pain). But does he? |
The Weakerthans – Golly, Thanks for the Great Tip on My Paper Route This Christmas Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Tone based off posted comments? Come on people |
The Lawrence Arms – Light Breathing (Me And Martha Plimpton In A Fancy Elevator) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Nice song, Just reminds me of all those times you've wished you had taken the chance but we cut down by our "timid self conscious" |
The Lawrence Arms – Navigating the Windward Passage Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Interersting thing to note, it seems he is singing about the people who think they know all about him and his music (but really don't). |

Interesting thing to note, it seems he's singing about us listeners who think they understandd him and his music. |
The Lawrence Arms – The First Eviction Notice Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Good song overall, especially when you consider thos through the state of mind of someone who has hit rock bottom. |
The Lawrence Arms – Right As Rain Part 2 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
A very good song, especially since it continues from where "The corpes of our emotions" leaves off. (The guys wants his gf/lover to leave since he's really a loser and she could do a lot better than him, and they both know it. So now with this song, she's gone and what does he have left?) |
Descendents – Coffee Mug Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Awesome song about a fun addiction, Also note the speed at which he sings the song, lovely. |
Against Me! – 24 Hours a Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Where do you find this song? |
Straylight Run – Now It's Done Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Wow Good song about a relationship that is just over. You can just feel the shock of the event slowly creep up your spine as you listen to the song and feel her pain. Reminds me too much of my first love... *sighs |
Descendents – 'Merican Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The simplicity is the song's real depth. America, along with many different countries, tends to suppress the "dark chapters" of their history. It is a warning to us all: "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" |
The Weakerthans – Plea from a Cat Named Virtute Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Powerful song, It isn't about immediately changing your life for the better, but to remember to live because "you're strong." Listen to it after a breakup, after you are down in your luck, and feeling sad for it will give you hope. |
