Now, I would much rather talk discuss the true meaning of a song instead of criticizing it, but the morality of our impressionable youth is at stake, much more than Wentz' live pro-homosexual fiasco:
How can a band with so much influence use the Lord's name in vain so liberally? This song's high production value has such a catchy hook, and it is wasted on associating God with guns and violence. Now, after G------ repeatedly on the radio, I wonder if the arms they are dealing are not a just stab at over-zealous scene kids, but a wholehearted subversive plot to corrupt our youth.

I've had this song on repeat all week, and I didn't know why until I looked at the lyrics here. i just got out of a relationship--long distance, late nights on the phone, but the simple fact was that "we can't see eye to eye together." Furthermore, all our conversations went like this: "I know you want it all and you got me / Sorry I never was everything you ever dreamed." This song was, basically, our whole damn story. It's such a release of emotion when they scream out "I don't want you to love me anymore." I love it. |

It sounds like a plea to prevent a lover's suicide, but it does so on a level that touches your heart with soothing emotion--it could even apply to a friend who's had a bad day. It's cathathitic too, on a mutual level. |

Wow, I thought I was the only one who thought it might be a praise song...but I only came to that conclusion at their show. First, the bassist got a cross on his guitar strap. Second, when Hayley is singing the song, she lifts her arms towards the sky, praise-style. Plus, I heard that one of the original members left the band to be a youth pastor? So they might have some spiritual tendancies. But that just makes me like them even more.
For the singing question, at the show, the one screaming was the original guitarist, so I guess its one of the brothers? The whole band really complements each other. And Hayley can sing...and write lyrics... and... she stays fly-y-yy-yy-yy-y-y... |

i finally saw STD live for the first time and when they played this, Chris started out solo electric but after the bridge the whole band jumped in and it was totally awesome!
i love this song because its about getting really close to someone but messing everything up because you said something, or didn't say something, and you're just resigned to sitting at opposite ends of the couch in the perpetually awkward twilight of the TV screen, awash in thoughts of how it might have been. I've had way too many of these nights, sweet, but tragically so.
As for the underwear, the entire EP is obsessed with the pelvis region: car seats, thighs, underwear--its the center of the body, the warmest region, and the one of the most sensitive. So many thoughts stem from here. Its only natural. |

i just saw the video for this song on punkrockvids, and i burst out laughing!
first, its the only FOB song with guttural screaming, and most of all, the video has HARDCORE DANCING...way too funny! don't get me wrong, FOB rocks, and I love the song, but I don't see the use in trying to play up a "hardcore" image when they're not hardcore...
as for meaning, I agree its about regret and wasting life away...maybe they put the screaming in to show how pissed off at themselves they were?? |
