this song is full of contradiction and ambiguities making it very hard to figure out. at first, he is saying that we didn't come to wait, we came to act. then he says we didn't come to fuck girls, which is carpe diem..he concludes though, going back to carpe diem, not wanting to think or imagine, just FEEL.

WHOA there Keifire...Drozd was never in any car-wreck. Drozd got the spiderbite (and his heroin use almost led to amputation, etc.). this song is about in the late 80's, supposedly, OKC got all overtly "religious" and ghost-town-like churches sprang up everywhere and Jesus's name was all over the place. Whether these people were genuine or not, who knows; but I heard that this is what Wayne is talking about. |

yeah, defintely. I can vouch for amphetamine come downs, and this songs is pretty much along those lines. The last stanza is AWESOME. For so many hours, you think you're the sky, but over time, you just disintegrate, expecting your body, which hasn't slept in days, to keep up with your tweaked-out mind. Good stuff. |

i hope that vampire shit was just a joke cuz it's dumb as hell. I think the song is about his group of friends as an adolescent and the stuff he remembers about his life back then...it seems to make more sense like that, its like a large metaphoe for life back then. i certainly can relate to that. doing all your shit at night, in the dark, and then getting "lost" (metaphorically) and needing a way home...

will someone explain to me how Bush stole the election? I just don't get it. He had more votes in every recount. And they did like 5 or something. I just don't get it. I mean, how it not counting fucked up ballots and dimpled chads tantamount to stealing??? If you wanted to Gore to win, you should have voted for him, not drool on the ballot. I didn't necessarily want bush to win, but I don't see how he stole the election. Seemed like he won it pretty fair and square. |

He builds up how great this night is going to be throughout most of the song and then actually talks about the night itself: they ran out of gas, everyone is getting sick and passing out on the beach...Also refer to the beginning where he says "We'll vanish in the haze...We'll grow old and lose our hair...It's all downhill from there..." |

This is a great example of good song writing. He is obviously talking about what hookers of simply stupid sex does to you. It destroys you. Much like the Animals' "House of the Rising Sun", I think Jon Crosby is telling us the woes of wrong sex. |
