So I know that there's a Shiri Appleby, but is Shirley Appleby a real person too?
And I think the line should read "Hey, that I'm going to play THE field", like date around, not play baseball.
I think it's a nice set of lyrics, about staying in a committed relationship, even if you don't want to all the time, because you made a commitment and you feel you should stick to it.
Also, the oh-ten and oh-eleven stuff is hilarious.
No idea what the phrase "Trippin' down the freeway" might mean though. |

I wouldn't say that the girl is definitely the slut. You have to take into context the rest of the SFTBH, and see that Dondo is calling her a slut, but Rivers is defending her.
It seems to me that there is just sexual tension between them. They had a thing before, but they've moved on. Rivers just wants to console her (cause Dondo just called her a bitch), and she takes it as he wants to get in her pants. That wasn't his original intention, but it soon grows to be. For both of them actually. She ends up telling herself that she won't do it, just as much as she's telling him. I think they may be singing the choruses together.
Although if anything, I got the impression that Rivers was the more horny of the two. Also see "in my pod". |

I think he and a female friend (not a girlfriend) used to maybe flirt, but never date. They are both in realtionships now, but theirs was always different. "so we play our games" refers to both baseball, and flirtations. It's like she's the true love of his life, but they are not menat to be lovers, just best friends |

ok, this song is about sex more than peaches is. a "fountain of white hot lava"? wonder what that could be! "It's in there growin" there's another one! they certain parts of the female anatomy (like a female named Helen) sometimes don't have the most pleasant of odors, perhaps like sulfur. Well not sulfur, but sulfur smells, and so does...that. "The Island is shiftin, the plates are liftin, the core is creamy, docile and dreamy" she took her clothes off, to reveal her soft center. He is so wowed that he almost craps his pants. |

ok, listen to other presidents songs. They write about random things. Could it be simply about peaches? yes. Could it be about sex? yes (listen to Carolyn's booty). could it be about utopian societies (which is more likely than communism)? yes (listen to Outdoors (I think that's what it's called, it's off "freaked out and small")). The point is that someone put a lot of thought into that argument, and it may be true. The only way we can get to the truth is by having an open mind, and then testing it, sort of like the scientific method. Just because you like to think such a simple song is about sex and that makes you giggle like you're a 5th grader in sex ed. doesn't mean it's not about something else. I don't really know what it's about, but I'm not ruling out any of the three possibilities listed above |

I think the singer's sister has died, and the guitar at the beginning is like the church bells. The bodies gliding from room to room are like the people who came to the funeral, maybe the pall-bearers. I used to think that it was his girlfriend or something, who is more than a "friend of the family", and the bodies gliding from room to room are he and she dancing. I just get a cool picture of two people waltzing throughout the house. But the "where have you gone?" sort of suggests the death, as does the "catch that light" |

I think it's about how he loves a girl, who breaks up with him for another guy, and though he is dissappointed, he is still somewhat happy since he loves her so much, that he is happy just because she is happy, even at his own loss. So, the stars are above, in that things could be better, but hell is below, because her happiness is worth being miserable, and it could be worse. |

ok, "the water" is definitely symbolic. I think you guys are kind of missing it though. The water is how his life used to be, with a preacher as a father etc. A religous life. He crawled out into teh burning sunlight (like hell) into temptation for the worldly desires. He PRAYS for shade and rain, as in he still wants the comforts that gospel gives him, while enjoying the world of sin he wants to live. "I love to see the sun/in spite of all it's done" is great because the "bad" things he is doing don't inporve his life, but he loves to do them anyways. |
