i think this song is about a guy who plays passive and vulnerable in order to get laid. but then he ends up falling for one of his partners. a long shot perhaps, but it's based mostly on this line:
"She swears I’m just prey to the female,
Well then hook me up and throw me, baby cakes, cuz I like to get hooked."
his lover accuses him of letting women take advantage of him, becoming their prey. he counters by saying he knows full well what he's doing and likes it. he knows that acting sad and tortured makes women want ot sleep with him, and htat's why he does it.
"If you don’t bring up those lonely parts
This could be a good time"
He's having a good time on some level, due to all the sex. But he's very lonely because he can't connect with his lover on an emotional level. He wants somethingm ore, but doesn't know how to work towards it.
i think "her love is a pony" refers to the fact it's purely for show. she has no real use for it. she may talk loud, but with no real emotion. |

i've always thought this songs was about a man who just got out of a breakup, and he's walking down the street. he then sees a little girl playing, and her mother calls her in for a bath. he then begins to think about how wonderful their life must be, and how if he stayed with his partner he could have something like this. he wants to steal this life from whoever sierra's father is. he wants to take the place of sierra's father, and have this wonderful life all to himself, because he knows he let it slip away from him. |

before i listened to weezer, my friend was telling me the lyrics to this song and i said "it's so pretty." then he said "it's about rape."
so, just because i had a slightly biased opinion i will go with the rape theory here. "i did what my body otld me to" and "Everytime I pin down what I think I want.." seem to be references to rape to me.
none the less this is a beautiful song, and it displays river's ability to write wonderful songs withough necessarily having expericenced the subject matter. or i would hope not. :P definately one of weezer's best. |

this song seems very teenaged to me because of the line: "before my mom walked in my bedroom". it makes me think of rushed teenaged love being interrupted by parents. i don't know if this would have anything to do with him falling out of love, but it sets a good tone for the song. |

i think he's saying his wife thinks she's a martyr, because it seems like he's adressing these comments to another person. she stays with him when he's drunk and passed out on the floor, so she can save him, and play jesus. then again, he does seem to be refering to himself in the second verse, when he says he's a lonely messiah, and drinking with the lepers. he says he's losing his better half, so i think that has to do with his wife leaving. sorry, i don't know what i'm saying anymore, but my main point is i think he's accusing his wife of trying to be the personification of jesus. |

i think this song has traces of self-destructive behavior like cutting, anorexia and bullemia, which only adds to the sadness.
"blood on my hands to stay strong" could be a reference to cutting.
