i heard people call TINC hipocrites after this song was apparently played on mtv. "they say they're against capitalism, so why are they on mtv?"
i think that if they can get their message across to that many more people, its awesome. maybe it'll inspire a kid to pick up a book, or go to a demonstration, or even just think a little more critically about the amerika we live in today. the fact that it goes against what mtv promotes during the commercial breaks is irrelevent: it's almost like theyre sabotaging capitalism in it's natural habitat. awesome! |

i dont think slayer are actually nazis or trying to promote nazi beliefs. kerry king has said in numerous interviews that he's just a world war 2 buff. other bands have worn swastikas too, just for the shock value, especially early punk bands (sex pistols, new york dolls, siouxe and the banshees, etc) and they certainly arent nazis.
and i have heard slayers song "angel of death" about aushwitz, but most of their songs are about death and pain, this one is just in the context of the holocast. you dont have to agree with the motivation behind something to make a song about it. like i dont think cannibal corpse actually partake in "meat hook sodomy". |

the question is not whether the majority of cops are assholes, or if theres some good cops out there. the fact that there ARE cops is what the problem is! the modern day police force was created in order to break up striking workers in the early part of the century. and since then, the system has been using them as a tool in order to protect the haves from the have nots. yes, it is the police we see terrorizing innocent minorities, oppressing political expression, waging the futile war on poor drug addicts, and putting squatters out on the street before putting them in jail for loitering. you have to look at the bigger picture of systematic capitalist oppression that the presence of the police state fits into. |
